...does that buy Miles (and Crowton) some good graces?

10 wins and a top 10 finish. It would from me. But I would have a very short memory if things turned sour in Atlanta come September

Next year will be a critical year for Les Miles regardless. He's got to start getting more wins against Bama, Florida, Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Crowton? Same for him, if he's around.

Very credible sources on the Coaching Changes board hint that Kragthorpe may be OC in 2010.

It would take him off of the hot seat for people who really matter. Les' knack for winning bowl games have made for some nice off seasons for him and his staff.

Why not? What is the team supposed to do except win? You looking for a blow-job on top or something?

I want to see a Les Miles LSU team come out of the starting gates on fire. The last two seasons this has not been the case. This is what would win my respect for Les Miles the HC, even more than winning the bowl game.

Crowton needs to go regardless.

Les needs to win more SEC games and compete for SEC championships. Bowl games are glorified exhibition games. The SEC is where it's at.

If Crowton is really on his way out, the performance of the bowl game won't matter. See defensive staff and GT last year.

this

The lack of offense will be looked at for sure and the near bottom ranking will be hard to justify keeping him on board. I know there were several injuries to key players, but the overall offense was just poor. From the play of the line to the qb, to the play calling, it was just bad.

Sometimes life is like that; changes. Can the wiz's contract keep him here? ??

I don't think LSU needs to do anything but win the game.

Bowl games are one of number of measuring sticks for a school, conference, and coach. Fans and the powers that be might like titles the best, but bowl trips are important to them and winning trips are even more important.

Don't let anyone fool you...wins over the likes of ND, Ga Tech, Miami, or Penn St are very well received by the fan base in general and are a feather in the cap of a school.

The only thing a big win buys is a quiet offseason. Looking at the schedule, I could see Lsu going 7-5 or 8-4 next year unless some of the young players mature faster than previous players have under Miles. There are gonna be a lot of inexperienced guys starting next year especially on offense.

Miles would be shamed for beating an 80+ year old coach. How dare he do that!
