Just to ask, is the Evnagel Curtis game what the LHSSA wanted every year when they forced the move down for these schools?

No, that's not why they did it. They did it to try and bankrupt both schools. The theory was Curtis and Evangel have 1A-2A enrollments. They were getting a lot more money by playing 5A schools with larger crowds. Basically they would bring their 1,000 or so to a crowd of 10,000 and get a 50/50 split.

this

the 5A schools, of which some I am a fan of, want you to ignore Curtis and Evangel (and you should). They don't represent the ideal of HS football in the state of Louisiana. It's about tailgating, tradition, gumbo and jambalaya at the concession stand, homer PA announcers, one town against the next town, parish against parish, long drives on two-lane highways around dusk through the backwoods to get to exotic destinations like Bogalusa, Ferriday, Clinton, or Many.
