Well...by your definition of comparison "i.e. only using the last two years" then LSU is on the incline not decline.

2008 8-5, not ranked, Chic-fil bowl.
2009 9-3/10-3, ranked 17-14 possible top 10, Cap 1 bowl.

So, for all the LSU is in decline assholes...if you don't go back more then 2 years and use Miles record of 10 plus win seasons, top 5 rankings, Bowls, and a NC then your basis for decline is completely retarded! So please shut the frick up with this shite it's getting to be really stupid!

Yes...no doubt LSU's record improved...both overall and in the SEC (3-5 to 5-3). Offense certainly declined, which I think has led to a decline in fan interest in the program. Les needs to fix the offense big time.

Maybe a drop in fan interest and ticket sales will wake up the administration that something bad is brewing here.

Chicken, not arguing that improvement is needed and changes must be made. The team needs to improve in many if not all areas...however...

I am simply arguing against the original posters suggestion that you can only look at the last 2 seasons and ignore the rest. By ignoring the all of Miles coached teams success in the past the decline argument fails. Over 2 years it has been an incline.

Comparing to the economy it's like a change from 10% unemployment to 8% not great but it is an upward not a downward trend.

As much of a travesty as last years defensive debacle. He should be outright embarrassed to sport such a poor 100's-ranked offense with sick athletes like Shep, Randle, JoJo, Toliver,Dickson, and the host of RB's we carried on the roster for the majority of the year.

Sure, "it all starts up front" and we had issues there, but COME ON to anyone who thinks that is an excuse to have such a horrid track record on offense because all that talent should AT LEAST allow us to salvage a top 60 or so offense.

If you are going to give Miles credit for the work of the horses/leqdership of Flynn/Dorsey/Hester and the other guts-and-grits Sr's that won it all in 2007 (not to mention the Univ of Pitts), then you have to comdemn him for letting LSU's defense in 2008 become a laughing stock and its offens become a laughing stock in 2009.

And the nation's crack economists have accurately predicted 12 of the last 5 recessions.

No disagreement here. The offense is a travesty of epic proportion.

Its too early to tell if there is a decline. I think so, but its not horrible or unsalvagable yet. Next year will be much more telling. Its obvious that LSU isn't the elite of the SEC any more. Will see if LSU can make progress next season.

Certainly all LSU fans want a more polished, more powerful offense and if that's the only thing you judge improvement on, there is a decline from 08.

I have to ask myself what's more important to my "fan interest" as an LSU fan. Having a better nationally ranked offense or having a better nationally ranked team.

I will take game winning results, SEC and national ranking improvement over offensive style points any day of the week to base my "fan interest" on, but each to our own.

No doubt our offense needs to crank it up next season and I have hopes that with an SEC seasoned JJ and the rest of the guys that it will. Wishful thinking maybe, but we will see.

...LSU is 9-3....not 3-9.

LSU recruited the top class in America last year and is in the top five this year.

LSU is in the top 15. 2 of it's 3 losses came against #1 and #2 (both competitive games).

LSU is playing in a New Year's day bowl to play a top 10 team.

LSU can finish with 10 wins and a top 10 finish.

LSU is the third best team in the powerful SEC.

Yet, we are debating whether we are in decline?

Over 90% of Division 1 football teams would love to "fail" as LSU has done.

Let me tell you what decline is....since many don't know about or conveniently forgotten the last 2 years of Mike Archer and the 4 years of Curley Hallman.

Decline is when you can't even recruit a top 40 class. It's when you win 3 games in a year, have pipe dreams of going to Shreveport for a bowl (that never comes), and hoping you can win 2 SEC games.

Set the alarm clock, put on a pot of coffee....it's time to wake the f#%k up.

Lonnie, with a 12 game schedule, LSU will typically have six games that it should win, no questions asked. It is those other six that tell the story. National rankings are good for marketing, but SEC record and, more importantly, division/conference/national championships are all that matter.

8-8 in the SEC over the last two years is not good.

Damnit people, Florida was not a competitive game. Yes, our record is better than it was last year, but we also have an easier schedule than we did last year. I'm glad our signature win is against an unranked Auburn. I'll even go as far as to say a lot of our games were rather boring to watch this year.
