yeah, if he's like Phil, then he's going to continue to do just enough to keep saving his job.

maybe in the perception of the fans. that guy had some GREAT seasons at tenn.

totally hilarious how once the coker comparison is shot down, let's switch to zook.

In Miles' defense over Fulmer, Fulmer waited way too long to make a change on offense after Cutcliff, and when he did make the change, he completely screwed it up. This combo lead directly to his demise at UT. Miles has made many mistakes, but at least he made immediate changes last year rather than letting things "fix themselves." I think Miles will do so again this year with the offensive staff. Miles will then be out of excuses a lot faster than Fulmer was, though.

i also think that later on, fulmer lost touch with something; whether it was the game as a whole or his ability to adapt. only time will tell if miles suffers the same fate. but lsu right now somewhat resembles tenn in the late 90's/early 00's.

So your stupid analogy has been blown to pieces, so now you are changing the topic?

Fulmer is really the best analogy. They were an elite team in the mid to late 90's, several top 10 seasons topped off with a NC in 98 and won 2 SEC C, 98 and 97. After winning the NC in 98 they went 9-3, 8-4. In 2001 they would have been in the BCS CG but lost to LSU in the SEC CG. They were good after that, played in 2 more SEC CG, but have not been to a BCS bowl since 98. Is that where LSU is headed? Stay tuned.

Les Miles is like Les Miles....stop trying to compare him to other coaches just to prove your argument against him.
He's had a bad 2 year run (due to rookie QB's), but he's a players coach, hes one of the best recruiters in the country, give him an experienced QB and he will beat anyone in the country, and he's proven that he's not scared to fire someone if it's whats best for the team.

I wouldn't say comparing Miles to Mack Brown is bad. Hell, he's about to head into his second BCS title game. The similarities that are there between then give me a little hope that Miles can wise up, be more flexible, and with the right players and staff around him, get LSU back on the road to big-time success. I sincerely HOPE that Les Miles is like Mack Brown.

it was a fluke we ended up in the NC that year

Not really.
It had never happened before in the history of college football and will probably never happen again.
Naah, that's not a fluke.

In 2003 and 2007, when it came down to crunch time LSU did what it had to do and the other teams didn't.
You mean like when it came down to crunch time they beat an unranked Arkansas team?
Oh wait...

Unfortunately, under Miles, yes.

do believe he did have a 2 loss season just like lsu did, come on you know it was a fluke we ended up in the NC that year
By that logic, you could make the same argument about the 2003 team.

So you're saying that it would have been a fluke for any other team that deserved it to be in that game too then.

When we beat Joe Pa, we will be 10-3 and ranked in Top 10..IMO that is a very solid season.
Did everyone really expect this team to go 12-1 or 13-0. NO!!
So STFU all the haters
