11games 1964yds 62% 16td/6int 30 sacks

his #'s look decent, but our offense sure doesnt look productive. we might get 2 good drives a game.

I think he performed better than I thought he would. I am kinda worried about his mental ability though. At the end of the first half on 3rd down he runs straight out of bounds instead of going down in play, he has to understand when he absolutely can't take a sack and yet he has done in the last 2 weeks, I am not sure he has a mental clock in his head. I would also like to see him move around in the pocket a little better, Arkansas' oline didn't look any better than ours this past weekend but Mallet was able to avoid the pressure and make plays Jefferson holds onto the ball to long and goes down like a sack of potatoes. I expect him to look a little better come bowl time

Statistically, better. He threw less INTs/fumbled less than I thought he would.

He did not lead the team on a consistent basis until the end of the year. If late-year Jefferson is who is coming back I'll be happy.

no,no, no...
never bring up numbers.
it's actually a racial thing.
same w/ miles.

ranturds are smarter. ranturds don't need no stinkin' numbers. numbers lie.
ranturds don't like jj and that yankee coach.

of course the rest of the world sees a great lsu w/ a great qb and a great team.

Other than the amount of sacks- yes. Very pleased with his performance, and am looking forward to the improvements he will make. Was surprised that he was a better thrower than runner, IMO.

Who is the rest of the world? Who actually thought LSU was great this year?

i was pleased with him about %20 of the time.

he never put a full game together against anyone worthwhile.

he plays well in spurts. When he's on, he looks good. Sad thing is, that hasnt been for more than a quarter or 2 at a time.

he impressed me overall but I thought he would have a better year statistically

the amount of sacks he takes is terrifying

playcalling hurt him at times

I like how he doesnt turn the ball over very much and doesnt throw many pick sixes.

all the sacks weren't his fault.

his numbers would've been better with more protection and a decent running game.

No running game and spotty pass protection figured into his numbers greatly.

No, but it's not really that fair of a question, since the entire offense was poorly coordinated, which kind of makes the whole season a wash for anybody who happened to be the QB.

Met expectations. Completion % is higher than I thought but so are the sacks. TD/Int ratio is very very good considering what we had last year.

I figured he would have very 'safe' numbers but I was disappointed in his intangibles

He didn't exceed my expectations, but I thought for an SEC QB who turned 19 only a week before the season began (and with just two starts under his belt) that he did play well overall. I'd give him a B+ grade, FWIW, with a bowl game still to come.

I do, though, really wish he could have finished the 'Bama game, played vs. LA Tech (in place of Gen. Lee) and that Miles hadn't taken a mental holiday in the Ole Piss meltdown. He was very good in the Arky OT comeback win, too.

Yeah, he had way too many sacks and made other mistakes, but there are such things as coverage sacks, sacks made possible by poor OL play to go along with his own bad decision-making. And the combination of inconsistent and questionable play-calling (esp. asking him to run the option), a running game which never got on track and lost Scott, Williams & Murphy to injuries, made matters tough. Plus, Dickson was hurt a lot and you can't just brush-off the fact that LSU never had a serviceable fullback, either.

All those factors aren't excuses; just reasons. Yes, he has a habit of holding the ball too long, needs to step up in the pocket, have better field-vision, know when to just throw it away (w/out int. grounding), etc., but by next year he should make those adjustments and improve his play.

Yes, LSU's offense is what, 108th? But JJ's pass-effic.-rating is currently 37th in the nation, and he has won 9 of 13 starts (1-1 last yr.), and missed almost half of the Alabama loss.

I'm looking forward to seeing him 100 percent healthy and how he fares against a solid Penn State defense.

This was a good thread, but whether you like the guy or not, we're aware of our offense's short-commings and its lack of productivity, and JJ was the QB except for a game-and-a-half.

I tried, I really did, to give an answer that wasn't predicated on J. Lee's adventures last season, and I mentioned only what happened this season.

But while JJ was out, it was clear that oh, frick it...not gonna rise up the J. Lee lovers. I'm out.

He can't read defenses nor can he pick out secondary receivers. He also is not a "field general" as he doesn' realize 11 men are required to be on the field (not 10 or 12) plus he doesn't know at least 7 are required on the line of scrimmage.

So, were you expecting all that?

when you compare him and the teams record to last years starting duo. He did okay. He about met my expectations of what I thought the coaches would let him do. They limited the offense, let him manage the game and drilled into his head "to take care of the ball". He looked like JR rs soph year. we finished 9-3 which is a helluva lot better than 7-5. I look for him to have a big season next year. I would be shocked to see him have the same type of year next year. That would definitely show no improvement.

No.

I honestly think JJ will be one of the all time greats to ever play QB at LSU. To that end, I thought his numbers are behind his potential at this stage of his career.

Next year will really be his time to step up... either be great, or make way for somebody else to be great. My money's on the kid.
