think Gary Crowton's offense is too complex, and thus is the reason he hasn't had the success at LSU that we all had hoped we would have.

You are overthinking things and being reactionary. The issue isn't that the scheme is too complex. The issues have been the following:

1.) LSU has had significant, tangible issues over the last 2 years that have affected the offensive performance (OL and QB). Simplified offensive scheme or not, you still fail because of these issues.

2.) The Offensive coaching with respect to the OL has been poor, IMO. I will go to my grave believing that there was a disconnect between Crowton and Studrawa. Studrawa was either unwilling or unable to implement the blocking schemes that Crowton needed for his modified offensive attack. And Crowton was either unwilling, or unable to identify the problems and make sure that they were fixed.

Just because there is a problem does not mean that the solution is to have the pendulum swing in way the other direction. If all you do is simplify the offense, you get nowhere, IMO.

While I still stand by my OP, keep in mind that was posted

when it looked like Crowton was going to get the axe. The problem with Crowton is that his offense is great when you've got a very bright/experienced QB, his offense sucks when you don't have a very bright/experienced QB. It is this way because it is a very complex offense that tries to do many, many different things.

It remains to be seen if Jefferson will be a bright/experienced QB this year. I have a feeling things will start to click for Jefferson this year and he'll exceed all of our expectations.
