As time goes by things dont seem as bad for the tigers. It is clear that the offense sputtered this season. The play calling was terrible, and Les Miles made a huge mistake against Ole Miss, he simply fell asleep in the last 2 minutes of that game. Given the chance he redeemed himself against an Arkansas team that had won 4 games in a row and was playing solid football. The defense made great strides this year and I believe will be stronger next year under Chavis. With a new OC , another solid recruiting class, with a full season under his belt Jefferson will be much better. I believe R. Shepard will run wild next season. With Murphy, Ridley and Ford in the Backfield we will be solid. I look for RR and D. Peterson to be excellent receivers. Im just a fan, and I could easily be wrong, but i feel much better about next season

beating a 7-5 arkansas team should not excuse the recent problems miles has had running the team. i still believe we are on a downward trend with miles, and unless a turnaround of epic proportions is made on offense next season he will be gone.

I see this too. He simply does not get the most out of his talent, his teams play with less discipline each year and the man simply can NOT develop players...

He has been incredibly lucky while coaching here, but that WILL run out eventually. Problem is, we are stuck with him until the MAJOR meltdown happens, but I feel its only a matter of time...

I, like everyone else am upset with the way the season is going because our team has not lived up to their potential. We have not seen what we were expecting and the team has stumbled way too often, but when you step back and take a look... These are the reasons for my optimism. We are still the the #3 team in the SEC, We will be playing in the Cap 1 Bowl, and were only 23 points away from a perfect season.
At the beginning of the season, I remember a thread where everyone said they would just be happy with the D not giving up huge amounts of points. Well, our D gave up just 16 points on average a game. That is progress.
Alot of people figured we would finish 8-4 or possibly 10-2. Well, 9-3 works for me especially seeing how we have the opportunity to play PSU and finish with 10 wins and beat another Big 3 school.
Looking at the potential match ups, this will probably be the second most watched Bowl game of the season.

If we don't at least sniff at the SECCG next year, TAF and Aleva should look for a replacement...

Maybe I am not aware, but did Crowton get fired?

I think that the O-line needs to mature quickly over the offseason. Out of Blackwell, Hurst, Faulk and Lowe, some real men need to emerge.

Maybe LSU will get an instant contributor from the JUCO ranks.

The D-line should be solid with Nevis, Downs, Edwards and Agahury. I got a good feeling about Brockers since he showed up at training camp as a svelte 290lb DE with long arms.

LSU was 3-5 and 7-5 in and unranked in 08.

LSU was 5-3 and 9-3 and ranked #14 in 09.

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking that's an upward trend.

Holy...you're an idiot.

Go to Rivals or Scouts, whichever you prefer, and take a look at how many starters over the last 2 seasons were 3-star recruits.

I'm pretty sure that's the DEFINITION of development.

if you're having trouble, read The_Pistol's post. That's the list.

The only time he is awake is when an assistant grabs his arm and shakes him.

As long as Miles hires a guy like Chavis who can be left alone and run the show on Off., we'll be fine. The less Les has to coach, the better.

Please don't come back rantard about how you hate Chavis' D, not the point.

Yes we have. Most if not all of us expected 9-3 or 10-2, but mainly 9-3. The way we got to those 9 wins was somewhat unconventional but we got them. I think what you mean is that the WAY we got to those wins was not what we were expecting, not that the season itself was unexpected.
