I throw a ton of money at Paul Johnson.

Navy and GT have a couple of things in common with Notre Dame, mainly being the requirements to be apart of each university.

Both Weiss and Willingham were both west coast offense guys, which despite their relative success I don't believe to be a good fit for ND.

Even when Holtz wasn't playing with a full deck they were a hard nosed, grind it out, workmanlike football team.

Yes they had the Tim Brown's and the Rocket Ismail's but they weren't catching 8-10 balls a game.

IMHO, Paul Johnson is a great fit for South Bend.

i am not impressed with paul johnson. he's decent, but his choice of offense is not going to win any NC's. if fsu and miami bounce back, it's not going to win any acc championships either. given time, a team can bury the triple option like lsu did last year. the "uniqueness" will be wearing off soon.

Notre Dame isn't going to win any NCs in the foreseeable future no matter who is the coach, imo.

I"m up here in Indiana-and before anyone jumps my arse-this is just the word floating around. ND is down to 4 names and the feeling is this....
Whoever looses the SEC CC game-ND is going hard after them.
After that-Kelly
Last-Stoops although he says he's staying....
20 years without a CC is a bitter pill to swallow for the Irish and they are going to make someone the highest paid coach very soon!!!!

I can see why conference championships would be hard to come by for Notre Dame.

Okay-my bad-NC but you know what I mean-it wouldn't surprise me if ND pulled a Bama. Remember they seem to be wasting time after firing Schula.....everyone was wondering what the hell-and Saban added to it with his famous"I'm not going to be the next coach at Alabama" quote...I'm not thinking it has to be Saban-but if I were Bama or UF...I'd still be a little worried.....

i honestly think Saban and Meyer are the only two coaches in the country that could have ND in the NC picture in two years.. any others, like Kelly, are still a gamble.. and ND, imo, is through gambling.. its really hard for me to see Meyer or Saban leaving, but ND has the money..

My first call is to the SECCG loser with a $7 million check and a promise of 100% autonomy and automatic admission to anyone he wants to offer a scholarship to.

You realize Nebraska was still rolling along when they ditched the option. The option was never killed as people proclaim.

Johnson took a pay cut to go to GT from Navy. If Johnson takes GT to consistent 10 win seasons with an occassional BCS game he'll have a stadium named after him.

Meyer's buyout is pocket change to ND.

Saban's buyout is less than pocket change to anyone.
