Any Tiger fan that decided after the Ole Miss game

that Les Miles is a bad coach has not been watching closely the last 5 years. Any Tiger fan that decided after the Arkansas game that Les Miles proved he was up to the task has not been watching closely the last 5 years.
I was very happy leaving the stadium Saturday after the Tigers pulled out the win, and essentially locking up a Capital One Bowl berth. But the truth is that we only got that bid because Ole Miss lost to Miss State. Going into 2010, LSU will not be the respected program that it was at the start of the 2008 season. Every team that faces the Tigers will feel like they have a shot to win. The voters in the polls will not rank LSU as high as they were previously, and the Tigers will fall farther when they do lose. LSU needs a return to dominance in 2010, not just getting by.

I agree, but that may be a good thing for the tigers. They need to be humbled. Maybe it will make them work harder and come together as a team.

Nothing wrong with hoping they get better. Most of us knew that Miles wouldn't be fired after this year no matter what happened in the last two games. So I, like yourself, was pulling for the Tigers to win, and felt good about it after.
That doesn't mean that I think all is well in Tigertown, but I will continue to pull for the Tigers to win every game, and not pull for losses just to get rid of the coach.
The blind posi-Tigers are the folks that I don't get. Just throwing out Miles 5 year won/loss record, or simply stating that 9-3 is what everyone expected this year does not sum up the Miles era or this season precisely. LSU fans used to look forward to the Tigers physically whooping their opponents, and "imposing our will on the other team". That was not the case the last two seasons. Troy, Miss State (08 and 09), Washington, La Tech, and Arkansas would all agree that even in victory, the Tigers have been far from dominant.

I hope you are right in only one respect:
I hope EVERY team the Tigers play next year believe the Bullsh!t that the Tigers are no longer a force to be reckoned with.
I hope they believe all the whining going on that the Tigers are 'has-beens."
I look forward to being the underdog in every game next year and win them all. All negatigers who were actually hoping Miles would step on his pecker again saturday night should try to find another team to cheer for next year.

Good outlook. I don't know why everyone thinks you can't have any middle ground between firing Miles and wanting him gone and being a Pollyanna about the state of the program.

From 2003 - 2007 LSU was underdogs in maybe 3-4 games. This year LSU was a 9 point dog at home vs a team with a QB that wasn't allowed to read books on the Monday before the game because it hurt his head too much. LSU was an underdog to an unranked team two weeks ago.
This should show you the perception of the LSU program around the nation.

I don't give a good hearty frick what the score is. I would love to go 12 - 0 and win every game by 1 point. Yes, even against La Tech & Tulane. Its still 12 - 0. I think some people are missing the boat. Winning is what matters, not the score. 12 - 0 will get us in the SEC championship game every year and 13 -0 will get us in the N C game as the SEC champ, and the score don't mean shite. Is Miles perfect? Not by a long shot. He pulls some major frick ups with the Ole Miss fiasco being just 1, but I'll take this last 5 year run any time. Dominance comes from winning not by running up big scores and humiliating opponents as some coaches prefer to do.

I understand, but the people "I don't get" are the Miles haters who pull out the 2005 Tennessee game any chance they get, do all they can to minimize the 2007 NC title because of "two losses". They will find something wrong in basically any LSU win or success and continue to point to "Saban" all the while overlooking or forgetting that Saban and his teams were guilty of the same misfortune from time to time that Miles and his teams suffer(ed).

Maybe, but the continued debate over this on a message board has to be up there with the greatest wastes of mental energy of all time.

I disagree. First, we are the higher ranked team and secondly, we travel better than OM.

Then don't respond. A message board is for people to talk about LSU sports. The same posters aren't on all the time. So, if a fan wants to have an active dialogue about something already posted, don't respond if you've already discussed it. There are 100s that haven't yet. They would like to voice their opinion as well.

Only to a point. If you remember a former coach used to preach, "Don't look at the scoreboard, just do you job. Dominate the guy in front of you. Execute what you are supposed to do." There is even video footage of players in the locker room after the game that didn't even know what the score was. All they knew is that they kicked the crap out of UGA in the SEC Championship game.
Sometimes in college football teams lose a game they shouldn't, or they come out "flat" against a lesser opponent. But after 12 games of consistent average to above average play, you would have to conclude that this LSU team is above average, but not elite.

sounds like you summed up our 2004 season.

should we decline the bid and give it to Ole Miss...because everyone knows that this was a fluke loss and really didn't count.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. I read comments on one of the articles (maybe Rosetta's).
One guy said he actually hated seeing the Tigers win Saturday because of his hatred for Miles. Another WANTED to root for Ark. because of his hate, but just couldn't do it. How EFED up is THAT?

I agree, but that may be a good thing for the tigers. They need to be humbled.
