I know everyone is bummed about the loss to bama. Hell, ive had work around these aggrivating rednecks here in Mobile, hearing "rowtahhd" every other sentence. But, shite, not is all lost. We could be headed to the damned Capital One or Cotton Bowl provided certain teams lose and we win out!(very possible scenario).

I saw some great things even in the ugly loss to Bama. Shepard is the playmaker of the future for LSU. This guy will be giving defensive coordinators conniptions for years to come. Jefferson is coming along and had one VERY nice drive against the top rated defense of Alabama, and he's still just a SOPHOMORE. We have rising stars in Deangelo Peterson and Rueben Randle. Peterson will be a great tight end next year and Randle will look impressive on the opposite side of Toliver.

Our offense AND defense is still an embarrassment of riches.Patrick Peterson is the best corner in the SEC, one of the best in the nation, future NFL star. We have a monster DL class from last signing class coming through who will contribute. Guys like Davenport, Downs, and Montgomery will soon be household names. We have four and five star players across the board. Guys that could contribute IMMEDIATELY(Loston), but don't due to the fact we really don't need to use them!(that's when you know you're a powerhouse). And we're about to sign another TOP 5 RECRUITING CLASS(even if we don't get lache!).

I say we blow La Tech out of the fricking water, go up and beat Ole miss silly in front of their douchebag fanbase, and cap it off with a solid victory over the hogs. A nice bowl win and this team is 11-2. Not too shabby AT ALL, and it will look great in the eyes of recruits for years to come. I know as tiger fans we expect that our team will be the best year in and year out, but just be glad we're a POWERHOUSE team in the best conference in the land!

I like the way you think, brother! I've been thinking this since Sunday, and the best thing that could happen right now is go out there and take care of business starting with LA Tech.

bullshite. Everybody on the rant knows that you should just throw the newest 5 stars out there. Because last years 5 stars are no longer any good. Like the AT&T rollover minutes.

Agreed but JJ doesnt hit his TE....Dickson is one of the best in the SEC/NCAA and you dont see him getting much touches...granted hes hurt.

Or Maybe its because he is white...hmmmm

Great post, Cheetah Flex.

I wrote something similar a few days ago, but you articulated the overall landscape of LSU's future much better than I did.

There's a good article (link on the TD.com homepage) about various bowl game reps considering and hoping to get LSU. The problem with the Cotton Bowl is we'd have to lose one or two of our last three to get there. It's a Jan. 2 bowl this time, played in the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium which would be cool. (We could even have J. Lee delay his transfer for one game just to have him hit that new monster scoreboard with his Jeff George-like monster cannon.)

First, the line of the day:
"Because last year's 5 stars are no longer any good. Like the AT&T rollover minutes."

...Then buzz-killed by this:

Oh, no you didn't...

This team still has alot to play for this season. As a fan and in my opinion this team will become better as time comes and goes. LSU has alot of young and talented players that get better everyweek and to give Florida and Alabama all they can handle speaks volume for our team.

i agree and have agreed that we will still be in the capitol one bowl against a very good opponent. but i cant agree with above statement, we are still a top 4-5 team. no one else with our record has played the top two teams like we have. I have faith that we will win out and go into next year favored for the west.

Good message and true. We are loaded. The only game we were out-played was Florida and will win out this year and have a great New Years Bowl to play --- personally I wold love to play the 1st Jerry Dome Bowl --- wish we could get USC in that one and kick their arse.

Our team just needs to make sure they don't play this game like they did Troy.

I don't see it happening, but that Bama game knocked some wind out of us and we are dinged up.

I say we only play the healthy guys in this one.

Like a favorite Cowboy of mine when I young!

"Just hold on a minute there Pilgram!"
John Wayne for those of you who are not young enough to know.

I would like to see us in the Rose bowl or Orange Bowl because there is still a chance for us to be in a BCS bowl. If Bama loses one game and then Fla. beats them in the SEC CG that would mean that LSU got beat by the #1 and #2 teams ranked at the time of our lose and the BCS computers will put us on top of Bama and we are in the BCS and then we can chose where we want to go. That is what I am looking for, if you are going to wish and hope hope for the best that will suite us the best. Yes, I to want to play USC but playing Ohio St. or USC in the Rose bowl in the Orange bowl Feista bowl or the Sugar bowl and I believe we will get the Sugar bowl if we take of buisiness and win out.

No choice in that scenario. We'd play in New Orleans.

Agree totally with the OP.
I was thinking about what this year's team would be with a senior Ryan Perriloux at QB. Miles is still paying a steep price for doing the right thing with RP. Next year we'll actually have upperclassmen in the QB position again. If we finish out 2009 with 2 L's, we'll open next year in the Top3-5.

I think the reason us fans are so down is that every time we review the interception by Peterson it hurts to see a piss poor call by the officials. All my friends in VA say we were robbed and are the best 2 loss team in the country. I hope we can win these next 3 games, if not it could be a long summer waiting for the 2010 season.
