If you have a bad feeling or you're unhappy with the waiter you're assigned, when you're seated at a restaurant, "How do you politely ask if someone else can serve you?"

I would simply leave the restaurant...chances are whoever you get will be friendly with that waiter and take offense...You will not have a great dinner...they know him...not you.

I'm not about to have his drinking buddy serve me, so that they can collectively conspire in the kitchen to spit in my food.

Just say that you don't like the location of your table and ask
to be moved somewhere else

the waiter and the dishwasher are the most important part of eating out...for me....If the waiter did something bad enough for me to want to fire him...it is time to leave the restaurant...if I just had a feeling I would not like him...then I would make some small talk, a joke or two and see if it was going to work out...everyone except waiters are allowed to be in a bad mood....and when I walk out...I walk out...if the hostess asks, I will tell her...the waiter was bad(hopefully she will alert the manager who will want to talk to me)...if no one asks or if she just says...sorry...I'm out of there for good.

Have not been back to The Village on airline since...or Cocodries.

I used to work in the restaurant industry. There are a few things you should know:

1) Don't ever feel bad about requesting a new server, it's your money, and the owner of the restaurant probably wants you to be happy if they value your business.

2) I worked in the restaurant business for 15 years, and very very few people will mess with your food...you have to remember servers eat out too and they know what goes around comes around. I have only known of one person ever to do put something in someones food and it was actually at Starbucks I was a customer and I watched the guy put a pubic hair in another guys drink...we all went to school together and he hated the dude in the drive up window.

3)If you have eaten there before and you know some of the other servers or you recognise one that usually gives good service point to them and ask for their section. The hostess, manager, or server that is seating you will be more than happy to accomidate you in most cases.
