Posted by Yojimbo on 3/30/11 at 11:12 am
I am getting tired of Starbucks&CC's...what else is out there?
Anyone been to Bistro Alex in Houston. Brennans family,.,,

Just curious...my little brother asked me if I knew anything about it.
Cafe Rani...great mushroom burger, salads, quesadillas, sandwiches. Kind of a chic place, but really good food.
So we went for lunch. The food was really good! We had steaks, sweet potatoes and salad. The atmosphere is qestionable, and it smelled like a gs leak. The service wasn't bad but it felt like the worst of chalmette.

Cafe ameila on Royal st...great food and drinks. They have homemade blueberry ice tea and you can sit outside in a garden with a fountain to eat. Very romantic!

I just drove by and saw the sign. I am so pumped about the bloody mary I am going to have with my usual...eggs benedict tomorrow! shite maybe I will go tonight.
No I hate the single cup brewers. You know what is real good...the French Press...but it's not easy or convienent.
Papi's Fajita Factory in Denham Springs is real nice, and then take your date down to this great coffee house called Charlotte's across from Back Yard burger.

La Lou/Another Broken Egg

I never really liked their overpriced and overrated breakfasts anyway. Plus, they wouldn't seat me one morning with a one year old. Kept passing us by. When I asked, they said they were waiting on a suitable table for a baby.
I find 8.99 for bacon, eggs, a biscuit and potatoes to be very reasonable. I mean raising cane's cost that much for to go fried chicken...i also find 16.99 for a 10 oz center cut sirlon to be reasonable...i think portobellos, Outback etc. charges $25 for the same thing. I do think their omeletts are over priced, but I also think that their portions are huge and I end up sharing food alot at ABEC.
I was wondering if your kid was in a car seat? Just asking because I have had the same problem with getting a table when I have my infant with me. It's not that they are skipping you because of having a kid...they told me that they were trying to find a spot where the infant wouldn't be in the isle. They are always so busy the girls are usually worried about someone knocking the infant over in the carrier. Just a little FYI.

I hope you complained to management. It's always important to let management know whats going on...especially if you think that's why Granny got sick. If customers don't speak up the problem can't always be fixed.
Few, I was getting nervous when I saw the sign down.
Silver Slipper everything SUCKS!!!!

Walking out of a restaurant....
Posted by Yojimbo on 6/18/10 at 7:49 pm
How long do you wait before you walk out of a restaurant if a hostess hasn't greeted you at the front door? I saw a couple walk out after about 30 seconds today, and they left like five year olds throwing a fit. Are they expecting too much? I have also recently watched someone walk out of a busy restaurant because it took the server 5 minutes to get to them...I have waited longer than that at taco bell for someone to talk to me on the mega phone...My rule is 10-15 minutes, I am patient...unless my blood sugar is low and then I freak out! I am anxious to know what most people do.
Chicken and Waffles and Ribs oh my!
Posted by Yojimbo on 3/27/10 at 4:39 pm
Well its been a while since I had been Another Broken Egg Cafe. I quit going when they moved over to Jefferson/Old Hammond area because its too far from my house. We decided to go today and I had a rack of ribs and they were fantastic! My waitress said they just put them on the menu since they are open for dinner. My wife had the chicken and waffles!!! Who knew they had all this! I will be going back even if I have to drive a little more than I want to.

Another Broken Egg does Bananas Fosters bread pudding and the portions are huge.
I used to work in the restaurant industry. There are a few things you should know:
1) Don't ever feel bad about requesting a new server, it's your money, and the owner of the restaurant probably wants you to be happy if they value your business.
2) I worked in the restaurant business for 15 years, and very very few people will mess with your food...you have to remember servers eat out too and they know what goes around comes around. I have only known of one person ever to do put something in someones food and it was actually at Starbucks I was a customer and I watched the guy put a pubic hair in another guys drink...we all went to school together and he hated the dude in the drive up window.
3)If you have eaten there before and you know some of the other servers or you recognise one that usually gives good service point to them and ask for their section. The hostess, manager, or server that is seating you will be more than happy to accomidate you in most cases.
