For those speculating that this kid will end up on the OL I think you're probably right.
Maybe ESPN didn't have his best highlights up, most of the plays they showed of him he was barely in on the play and when he was he showed up late to pile on the tackle.
I was excited to hear we got a solid DT, but after seeing the video I'm scratching my head a little. The kid looks like a project.
Any recruiting "experts" who've seen his videos want to chime in on this?

He has a real high motor but plays a bit high and that really hurts him. He seems to be able to shed the block sometimes but other times gets enveloped and taken out of the play. A lot of his issues seem very coachable and his talent is very evident. He should end up being a solid DL for us although miles has switched some good DL and made really good OL

You have to take a chance on players when your home state isn't producing them when you need them. If USC offered, I don't think he would pass them up. However, there is a reason USC hasn't offered. He might be a project player. Maybe he works out, maybe he changes position.

He's strong and fast, but I know what you mean. I see future O-line or just run-stopper. He does play too high. Not going to pressure QB's in the SEC. Would be a good fit for our current D,but I want those studs that apply pressure up the gut,and we hadn't recruited one in a while.

I think it's mostly about potential with him.
It's not like we are the only major school that offered him.

Quit pissing in our kool-aid, brah.
We haven't gotten a commitment in a while

Camden, Chris Davenport is about as impressive a pass rushin DT recruit I could imagine. If he would have played any sort of competiton in high school he would be playing now but since he could overpower everyone he never needed sound technique and forced a RS year to learn

ESPN said he had a written offer from USC. I guess that means "non-commitable"?

I disagree. I think the practice of taking DT's on the roster and moving them to OL might be over. This defensive staff knows what they are doing and seem to have a plan for the types of defensive players they are looking for. The previous D-Staff seemed to have no rhyme or reason with personnel packages. This is a strong, fast, high tempo guy. A little taller version of Josh Downs. I think this is what Chavis is looking for. He seems to be wanting to place a space eater along with an athletic, disruptive type of DT. Sort of like we had with Dorsey and Alexander (when they were healthy).

Alange, I don't know if of was a CO but I'm sure there are many written offers out there that wouldn't be accepted by staffs for various reasons.

You said we haven't recruited DL's that can pressure a QB for a while---true, if you mean the current DL. But there is a good chance that Montgomery, Brockers and Mingo could develop into that in the future!

hes not a stud but with some good coaching and after a year or two he can be a good player for us
given that we need d tackles in this class, its a great pick up and if he does end up at offensive guard then thats fine too
to his credit, hes playing against some very good competition and Im sure teams are avoiding him and/or doubling him

He plays against the worst competition in CA fwiw
That's always the major concern with Oaks Christian players

o ok, you would know I suppose being a usc guy
well, I dont know then, he will at worst be a backup for us and that is not always a bad thing, you need those guys too... I guess we will see

Are you just talking about their division?
I thought they traveled long and far to play national power houses.

not normally. They played Skyline in Washington this year who has Heaps and Kasen Williams, but other than that they really play nobody
SC has had a couple of OC guys be busts. Their record seems pretty spotty as Clausen is obviously great.
