Being from the Cajun Heartland I've been skeptical of trying smoked sausage from anywhere East of the Atchafalaya Basin. I was happy to find that Bergeron's in Port Allen has great smoked pork sausage for your gumbos and the andouille is some of the best I've had, anywhere. So I'm givin it up today, to Bergeron's

and Jacob's (in Reserve) has amazing andouille....i will dare say better than any i have had in the state. Now it is really smokey, so don't go overboard with it.

Gonna have to check that out.
Probably the worst thing about moving across the Basin to B.R. is the lack of good sausage.
If I hear one more commercial about those overgrown oscar meyer wieners that Manda's calls "sausage" I may

Give Benoit's in Addis a try. It's not that much farther of a drive from BR.

Creole Country in New Orleans. Truly the best sausage I've ever eaten, hands down. If you ever get a chance, try the chaurice - shockingly good!
