IMHO Florida got a huge bump yesterday late in the game on a couple of very questionable calls in UF's favor. SEC office definitely has it's favorites. I know we've benefitted from some of this ourselves in recent years but it seems to be getting worse every year.

Watching that game when florida got those 2 phantom calls that led to a touchdown was just agonizing to watch. neither of those calls were even close to what they said they were!

It seems that Florida is the new Alabama.

No so fast my friend. Bama DBs were mugging USC receivers all night long and got away with most of it.

I'd have to say the BIG 12 officials were worse yesterday. If you watched the UT-OU game or way worst - the OSU-Mizzu game. The officials continually missed calls even after several minutes of instant replay. I actually felt bad for Mizzu - they got screwed many times last night in that game.

If the SEC gets one team in a BCS bowl game, they will receive $17.5 million.

If the SEC gets two teams in BCS bowl games, they will receive $36 million.

If you think Florida and Bama aren't going to get the benefit of the doubt from SEC officials, you are sorely mistaken.

this bigtime...I explained this to my wife yesterday as we watched the game. the SEC has sold fair play, tradition and integrity to CBS, ESPN and the BCS.
if you watch the replay of the florida off-interference td you will see the official who is supposed to be arbitrating the action on the field...intently focused on the flight of the ball. the ball commits no fouls...the players do.

FWIW, the crew at the UF/Arky game yesterday was the same crew that did our game with UGA.

Doing the right thing was shameful? Not to mention the 18+ seconds that mysteriously disappeared between plays for ND when the clock suddenly had 9 seconds left? That game was poorly called, but it was poorly called rather evenly ( and maybe in USC's favor if anything ). UT-OU game and UF-Arky games were called way worse and determined the winners of those games. Bama is always dirty and getting away with pass interference & holding from their DBs.

I've been saying this for years. And, it happens in every conference. (See Texas over KU a few years ago) When the conference selects and pays the officials AND benefits from postseason appearances, there is an inherent conflict of interest. Yet another reason I'm starting to prefer the pro game.

Yesterday I went to the SMU - NAvy Game.
Frankly, it makes no difference to me who wins, but fair is fair.

I saw a pass interference call on SMU when the ball was about 7 yards over the receivers head....
...not even close to being catchable and not a flagrant interference.....NAVY went on to score a touchdown

The next drive SMU had a run back to about the 12 yrd line and they called FACE MASK against NAVY at the end of the play...
the replay showed the face mask...BUT
the flag was picked up and the refs said "no foul"

...as I said, I really don't care, but "there is a lot of money difference for a school in potential income based on a team's record vs which Bowl they may go" the refs should get it right, at least on obvious calls.

BTW...NAVY won the game in overtime by 3.

UGA fans seem to have a point.

In Georgia their fans were telling us that ever since Richt had his team pull that stunt against UF they have been getting screwed on personal Foul penalties. Watching their game this weekend only convinces me more that they are right.

It appears, that when refs may have...
SOME THINGS POINTED OUT TO THEM by ????
that start to focus on that....

I guess if you were a ref, and your boss tells you do do something a certain way,
or
you feel you missed something the week before, or see "tendencies" ...you pay attention.

I think they do...some times TOO MUCH attention.
I guess they do not want to leave room for doubt to their bosses.

It's like a pendulum swing.

The officials are taking over, Florida kicks a field goal and has to put their heads down and Tip toe over to their bench,(as if they would flag the gators) , Arkansas tackles Florida, and its like the refs are daring them to look at the guy they tackled, but yet they miss easy calls all over the field

I feel the same way. I have often wondered how the officials know who I am like in a game. The calls always go against my team.
