Say on Pay legislation. What do you think about it?

[5] The effect of ‘say on pay’ measures can be binding or non-binding, depending on regulatory requirements or internal corporate policy as determined by proxy votes.

I think figuring out how much executives get paid is really difficult. I am strong supporter of shareholder rights, this has appeal to me from a shareholder perspective.
But at the same time, that is why you elect board of directors. if you don't trust them to make good decisions, why bother?

I feel very strongly both ways on this issue.

Exactly. I haven't been able to figure out where I stand on this idea. I'm all for a free market, but at the same time, I would like some accountability from CEOs.
My biggest concern is that I don't want the government preempting state law here only to have them involve themselves more and more in teh future.

you can have accountability and the free market. The trick is to link compensation to performance. And that is really difficult to do.

the gov't isn't going to get involved. they may jawbone, but they won't do anything too crazy here.

If only CEOs had teh same accountability as LSU football coaches do. Those guys would only be making a 10k salary.
