I was at the game and I aggree with you...Fla was just meeting @ midfield to get fired up. I LOVED the fact that our LSU players met them @ midfield and maned up. TOTALLY COOL and the crowd went nuts.

Is there anyone out there besides me that doesn't care that they stomped the eye?

I never post, but figured I would put this out there - I was there and saw the whole thing take place. As soon as Tebow realized what the rest of his teamates were doing, he walked away towards the sideline to get out of the mess. By the time the Tigers were there, Tebow was near the numbers I am not a Tebow fan, but thats what I saw from my seat.

For someone who has one of if not the biggest media outlet for LSU sports, I figured you'd be a bit more passionate.
To each his own I guess. It's just disrespectful to say the least.

They didn't stomp on the eye brah.

At least it forced LSU to show some damn emotion. This is the first time this year that I saw any emotion from our team.

meyer wouldn't allow the players to stomp on the eye. zook, maybe... meyer, no.

Watch the video, and when the camera zooms in, look how many Gators are between the 45 and 50, well within the "Eye". I don't care how long they've been doing it, it's classless. LSU was right to defend their field. At about the 1:45 mark.

THIS.
They did what they normally do and some players happened to end up on the eye. Big deal

What they normally do should be flagged. Go jump up and down in your endzone, not on the midfield logo. It's thuggish, and they know it, that's why they do it. The SEC wants to flag kids for being excited for scoring last minute td's, but they do nothing about obvious attempts to taunt the opposing team.

The majority of the team was not on the eye but off to one side, it's pretty much what they did in 2007, and what other teams have done in TS

quote:that's crazy. they were just standing there and then started jumping on their way out. even if they were jumping in one place, they were barely touching the eye. why were they jumping? it's called excitement... or anticipation. they do that every game, even at florida field. are they showing disrespect to their own team when they do that in the swamp?

just keep on examining and dissecting the zapruder footage if you want.

Come on folks, I was there and that was a big time atmosphere for a big time game and that was the type of passion displayed by both teams that makes cfb God's sport.
The Gators were having a team huddle that was clearly originating around the 35-40 and spilled over in the eye. They breaking up and going to the sideline when LSU took exception and defended their turf. Florida responded as they should. I thought both teams played very hard and played a clean, hard hitting game. Much respect from both sides.
Great atmosphere and great fans in Baton Rouge.

Watching that video - there was clearly a whole bunch of Gators jumping up and down on the eye.
Now you can say they weren't "stomping" but that's getting into semantics. By them doing that it says either one of three things:
1) They were too dense to know that it would be considered disrepectful to the home team;
2) They knew and didn't care;
3) They knew and did it on purpose in some sort of macho statement.

The proof is there and you admit that about half of the team was on the eye. You do realize that every team takes this as a sign of disrespect. Don't tell me that Florida teams don't understand that (FSU-Miami pregame fights). Florida knows exactly what they are doing. You do realize that many teams kick their last pregame punt toward their endzone and huddle there. If you don't want to be called thuggish, don't jump up and down "maybe on the logo, maybe not". But Urban Meyer has no problem with the "swagga".

Florida Stomping the Eye in 2007
LSU players weren't going to let it happen again. Of course, the 2007 team handled it on the field.

I hate meyer more than saban and caroll now. I will pull against uf no matter who they play. That was classless. Was tebow doing this as well?
No matter. Next year when I go to gainsville I will take a shite on the F at midfield and save some for the gator heads too.

I was really pissed as well....usually stomping the eye is a recipe for defeat. Unfortunately, that was not the case this time
