Someone please explain to me how this is is not on the coaches and the game plan.

It's quite obvious that no one trusts JJ. They're correct, IMO.

Then you either need to give Lee a chance or bring in RS and go pure spread option. What they were doing on Sat. isn't the answer.

Sad thing is that they are trusting JJ to do the things that don't work against great defenses - the option will only work for so many plays, then a quick, aggressive defense will load up and hammer you (look at LSU's performance against the vaunted GA Tech option last year).

Handing off to Scott, KW, or play-action short passing to the Tight End should not be a tough play, even for a young QB like JJ - we saw very little of Dickson, who was wide open a lot. The Oline did a decent job of run blocking considering the lack of vertical (deep) passing attempts.

Which brings me to my next question - why in the hell can't the coaches call some "jump ball" floaters down the sidelines to their 6'3" and 6'4" superstar receivers against smaller Dbacks. Two out of three chances of getting a completion or flag for interference vs. incompletion in a 1-on-1 situation. Seems like that's a great matchup for LSU. At 50+ years old, even I can still throw that pass 20+ yds down the sidelines.

If the trust is not there for JJ to do these 2-3 things well, then we need to look elsewhere quickly. Frankly, I'm not an advocate of bringing in Shep to take over at QB - I doubt he's any better at these plays than JJ - the coaches simply aren't calling them from the sidelines. We can win ballgames (even against tough opponents like FLA) with the addition of these simple plays.
