lsu has been around since the 1800's. All i am asking is if florida football is a relative newcommer.

Do you mean in football or the school in general? Because UF was established 7 years before you.

Florida is a charter member of the SEC, like LSU. Steve Spurrier won the Heisman there in the 60's. No, they didn't win the SEC until the 90's (partially because they were place on probation when they would have won it in 84 & 85 )
