Concussion Research

Because I'm bored and unemployed, I spent some time reviewing some case studies on concussions. Here's what I read.
--There are ratings for conussions, but they usually fall into one of 2 catagories. Simple or Complex. There is really no way to catagorize them until the person is fully healed because they're labeled according to the length of time it takes to full recovery. But even the simple concussions take 7-10 days to heal.
--Of the 10 case studies I read, 7 had lingering symptoms at 6 weeks after the injury. These symptoms were severe headaches, nausea, dizziness, and lethargy. 2 of the case studies still had severe symptoms 6 months after the injury.
--The biggest risk to returning to activity too soon is brain swelling. Another smack on the noggin, and the injured could become comatose or even die.
--One of the key factors in determining the severity of a concussion is LOC(loss of consciousness). The reason I bring the LOC up is because we know he was knocked out. The other factors are, loss of memory, severe headaches, dizziness, and confusion. Only the people closest to Tebow know if he has those symptoms.
--Based on what I read and what I saw from Tebow, I'd say he will not play, and he may in fact miss another game or even 2.
If you all remember last year, Hatch suffered a mild conussion against Auburn, and did not return to play until the Gator game 2 weeks later. He didn't take nearly the shot that Tebow took.
I've been saying this for a few days now, I'll say it again. Tim Tebow will not start in Saturdays Game.
Urban Meyer knows it, but has made it a "Game-Time" decision in an effort to create confusion in the LSU coaching staff.

They already know whether he is going to play. One thing is for sure... Tebow went down two weeks ago and Florida saw it as an opportunity to make us prepare for 2 quarterbacks.

Yeah, you didn't see him go limp? Then a team-mate picked up his arm and dropped it and it fell limp to the ground.

Miles and Chavis know he will not play, so the whole deception angle is bullshite.

I'm gonna have to call you a ranter on this one. If they don't prepare for Tebow and he plays, Miles will get crucified.

didn't know if he actually went out completely. didn't show his eyes being closed.

That was the same look he had when he lost in 2007.

I never said they were not going to be prepared for him. They just aren't being fooled by Meyer.

So do you think your research is better than the nationally recognized Dr that is with Tebow this week?

No, he is just trying to give an opinion on Tebow's status since we will not get one from "the nationally recognized Dr. that is with Tebow"

Our coaches are not stupid they know that Tebow will not play at all because of the severity of the concussion. he was knocked out and everyone that has anything to do with sports knows that it takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks and even longer to get back to normal living letalone back to heavey contact as such as he will face in Tiger Stadium. These people are not crazy enough to put their son in that type of inviornment that early. Because at on of the posters on here stated that the results could be comatos or even death. So that is the end of that. LSU is going to prepare for the best that Florida has to offer no matter what. If that includes Tebow so be it but, Tebow will not play. LSU's main concern is Florida's defense and their speed. If they can overcome that then LSU will have a great chance at winning. But, they should not be playing games with a young man's life the way they are doing, IMHO.

You're right... No one will know except the UF staff. They will not let it be know until right before kick-off.
However, a few spies on the ground in Gainesville will be able to tell whether he's ready with practice today and tomorrow. If yesterday was any indication, he's playing.

They are not preparing for two QBs. You really think that in the event that tebow plays, that he'll be the same bruiser he normally is?
They are going to prepare for an offense that will feature a QB(no matter which) throwing a lot of swing passes, screens, and 3 step drops. Things designed to keep a QB "safe".
They will also try using those speedy little backs in some kinda jet sweep-esque thing outa that modified wing urban loves so much.
Weather he plays or not is irrelevant.

Attorney friend who deals in this kind of stuff says there's no way the doctors for the insurance co. clear him to play Saturday - no matter what UF doctor team says. FWIW.
