Would they dropped below USC? I mean we beat the team that beat USC and we only lost to the #1 team in the nation. So why would we drop that much?

Depends on how it happens. Close game, decided at the end be a few points, probably don't fall out of top 10. Blowout, deep into the 2nd 10.
On the other hand, we win by any margin and we move all the way up to #3, unless Ole Miss pulls off the upset.

This is a huge flaw in the voting system. When you lose should not matter, but it does.

A competitive loss to UF will probably keep us in the top 10.

That is a major flaw in the polls. If the No. 4 team barely loses to the No. 1 team, they shouldn't drop. That should actually be verification that the poll was accurate to begin with. Unfortunately that is not how it works.

Hopefully, we win and this discussion is moot.

it should, but im sure the media will jump all over us and say 'well they finally lost one, we knew they werent a top team this year.' and then we'd probably be 10 AT BEST

Agree. With that thinking, Stanford beat the team that beat USC, so they should be above USC.

Doesn't matter. 1-Because its week 5, 2-If we don't at least win west, both those teams will jump us with identical records, because voters will say LSU didn't win their division, much less SEC. At most we'll have arguement for 3rd, which I'd bet USC and OSU finish 1st or 2nd in conference.
