Limited RS touches could be a durability concern?

RS has been electric when out there but he does look small/thin and I'm curious if durability is a main concern until he can add some (I said some not much just enough to absorb some hits) weight.

I'm wondering when we're going to see him throw the ball.

I'm not as excited and giddy about this as most are, because even in warm ups, his most of his throws look ugly.

I'm fine with 6-7 yards a pop running with the ability to break a big one. That's of course if Miles lets him.

A fricking highschool player is more durable than 4 touches a game.

Not a fan of this hypothesis myself. If they were worried about Shep getting hurt this season, then just go ahead and shirt him, let Moffitt build his body, and then next year use him. But I just don't see how much af an impact he's going to be able t make playing 4 plays a game...unless they are EXTREMELY important plays or for huge yardage. and if he's not going to be utilized in an important way, he could have stayed on the shelf until he was ready.

Just my take...

Thank you. There is NO EXCUSE for why we aren't playing him more.

The 10-12 carries that people think he should be getting should not be a problem durability-wise.

I agree. I just can't wrap my mind around why he doesn't play more considering he is the ONLY effective running threat we have right now.

If Shep plays in the 2nd half last week then we wouldn't have all these doomsday posters. If he plays, we move the ball (He has gotten between 6-8 yds EVERY touch and the opposition knows EXACTLY what he is going to do), we control the clock, we score some points, and our defense doesn't wear down!

I think he should get more touches as well. I think his PT over the next 2 weekends will tell us more. I think we see a lot of RS packages... with a couple tosses thrown in.

I would have to agree.....either he was too fragile to recruit or he should have been given a redshirt. I hate to see us burn a redshirt for 3 plays a game.

there is some logic to Miles explanation yesterday...if he continues to run the same 2-3 plays they'll be easier to stop. Putting in more plays specifically for him takes practice time away from other stuff, given that if he gets hurt that part of the offense goes away, you have to weigh the benefits of using the time that way. I think the number of touches will grow some, but I don't see him getting 10+ touches unless they decide to make a bigger philosophical change in offensive strategy.

I don't know about that, we run the option with JJ a lot even though he doesn't run it correctly at all. If we want to run the standard option then put a player back there who is comfortable running it and runs it correctly.
