Warning to Tiger fans coming to Athens this weekend...

Be careful not to get caught with an open container on a sidewalk, crosswalk, or in the street. We have some of the biggest douchebags patrolling the campus. I kid you not, a building could be burning down, and they will run right by it to write citations. Just be careful, and enjoy yourselves!

this may seem like a stupid question, but what exactly is classified as an open container? I have a cup with a lid, is that considered open?

According to our fine upstanding folks, we had cops writing tickets to 14 year old kids who were minding their own business last weekend.

Yes, open beer can/ bottle, or mixed drink in a plastic cup, mug, thermos, etc. Anything containing alcohol.

Seems like I remember this from the last time we were there... thanks for the remainder... also reminds me of when we played at auburn and that old cow barn burned down during the game... hundreds of people outside just standing there watching it burn, and every single one of them standing around with drinks in their hands... it was almost surreal, almost like a dream... fire blazing merrily away, completely out of control, and it had it's own little tailgate going...

I had some friends get a ticket in downtown Athens for an open container. Douches on bikes.
Agree with the drinking at your tailgate. Also, if it's in a cup, you're probably not going to get checked.

He is correct, for all the crazy stuff I have done, I have been arrested once, I spent the night in the Clarke County GA jail...
And I did not do ANYTHING I would of got arrested for in BR...

Stand at your tailgate holding anything but your pecker is fine. Just don't wander up and down the street with a can or bottle. Cup is fine to wander with.
Atlanta to Athens is about 90 minutes downtown to downtown. Gameday, obviously, will take longer.
