should LSU abandon the running game?

It appears that RS is the only back that can consistently find running room. Miles is stubborn and insists on trying to force the traditional power-running game, and it's not working. I don't know why, but they're not getting anywhere.
Why not take advantage of the talent at WR and go to a more pass-oriented game? Just do a few running plays here and there to keep the D honest.

Yeah - so that way the defenses can just come after us all day with no worries.

Abandon it when there are 8 or 9 in the box, absolutely. It may also help to run to the wide side of the field when going outside with speed guys. The sideline definitely got credit for the tackle on the red zone option to Keiland.

Running game doesn't need to be abandoned. What DOES need to happen is more 3-step drops for Jefferson and more slants/screens/TE over the middle type plays to get the defense to start moving men off of the line of scrimmage.

Definitely need to use the pass to set up the run...

I agree they should abandon the running game, however, I don't think they can. The coaches say JJ still doesn't know the playbook. If the guy can't run the passing plays, you have to do something.

I think LSU should play mostly a spread option...75 perc of the time IMO. The D cant load up the LOS as easily, and lets our athletes have more room to work. I think that would open up the running game a bit...but the O=line still looks lethargic..that's a problem.

Exactly. We need to mix it up A LOT MORE and stop being so predictable. Spread that defense out a little and our O-Line will not die of being so tired. We are brutalizing them with the predictability.

We need to move the football any way we can and get our skill guys ( including Shep ) in space. I say open it up and set up the run.

No,just abandon the option to the short side of the field...once a game, MAYBE, 5 times

Can't do it, not in the SEC. We will have to find a way to run the ball up the midle in order to beat the likes of UGA, UF, Mama, and Ole Miss.

Absolutely - stop being so predictable. Everyone knows that 95% of the time, we will run on first down. However, yesterday, we opened a series with a long downfield pass and - BOOM - TOUCHDOWN!

I agree, once JJ establishes consistency with the pass, the running game will open up big time.

Offensive line can't block.

Abandon the power run game. It just doesn't suit our personnel.
Options and zone-reads are getting us 7-8 yards per play. Our O-line doesn't have to get as much push, and our quarterbacks are perfect for it.
