He Doesn't have a clue what he is talking about and they insist on letting him get on tv and make a fool of him and the programs he coached

Every station needs comedic relief.

first he took his dentures out....that man gums a mean dick
Posted on 9/22/09 at 12:20 pm to mrdbrown81
because ESPN loves Notre Dame
Posted on 9/22/09 at 12:21 pm to mrdbrown81
Why?
Because he's Lou Holtz.
His legend is a legend. Yes he says crazy things that we can barely understand. And yes he even put an evil hex on us before the Kentucky game in 2007, but Lou Holtz is still Lou Holtz.
They cant get other guys longterm like Tubberville because he's likely to be gone at any minute to another job.

I kind of thinks when he says stupid s_-t he is serious and really beleives it

its really not tough to figure out, he was a legendary coach who hung it up, they thought that he would give great insight into the game for the fans, instead he's proved to be a huge homer that still garners ESPN very big ratings. So they keep him.

He got the job because it was brilliant. He taks Notre Dame and that gets some folks riled
He has that little act he does Dr Lou and such and everyone is screaing LOU is stupid why is he own but everyone watchs ESPN so they all can rant about him
Lou and ESPN are laughing all the way to the bank

I dont understand this logic. So what if he is Lou Holtz? He has fallen off and is taking crazy pills. To predict ND wins a NC this year is just plan stupid, its not even funny. He is too biased to be on espn (even more so than most commentators). No one understands WTF he is saying or even trying to say. Why not take away his airtime and give me more game analysis that actual helps.

People tune in to see what he'll say next. ESPN is smart. If they want to do us a favor, take Robert Smith off the air. He provides nothing but a smart arse smirk.

Correct - they know that everyone has an opinion on Notre Dame. He just plays a role, kind of like Skip Bayless. Plus he is just an older guy, so some will forgive his antics.
Back when he was coaching, he was a great interview, but 5 minutes of him is much more tolerable than hours and hours...

I dont tune in to what he has to say. I walk out the room or change the channel when he comes on. Whats the point of asking him who will win out of ND and anybody. We all know what his dumbass is gonna say.
Hell if the steelers from last year were playing ND I think he would still pick ND

This is what he sounds like now when talking:

Holtz was a last-minute replacement when ESPN fired Trev Alberts after week #1 in '05. Holtz had some experience as panel commentator @ CBS w/ Brando & Craig James in between his tenure @ ND & leaving to go to S. Carolina.

ESPN is the Fox News of sports programming. Hype anything, whether it makes sense or not, stir people up with bullshite and watch the ratings go sky high.

Because their goal is not to help, it's to entertain and get people to watch. And Lou succeeds in that. I don't mind him, but I do think he is tarnishing his legacy a bit. A lot of people--especially the younger ones--only think of him now as this clown character he plays, rather than one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. His legacy to tarnish, though.

I for one actually like Lou on espn. call me crazy

The sad thing is, if he would just shut up about how Notre Dame is going to make it to the NC game or go undefeated every year, he really isn't that bad. He is somewhat comical, but he does have knowledge of college football. Maybe the network can fine him every time he mentions ND and make it more pleasant to watch.
