LSU backup QB, TC McCartney, will be featured on ESPN's college Gameday this week. Here's the information I got from a family member today:
The first, shorter version will run Saturday, Sept. 19th on ESPN's "College Gameday,'' a show that runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Mountain Time.
The second, longer version (best) will run the next day, Sept. 20th, on an ESPN show called "Outside the Lines'' at 7 a.m. Mountain Time.
So you'll have two chances to catch it -- and there are even other ways after that. The piece will likely re-air on Sept. 23rd, the 20th anniversary of Sal's (TC's Dad's) death, at 1 p.m. Mountain Time.
Good to see a Tiger get some publicity on Gameday!

whats so interesting about this guy that they'd want to do a piece on him?

His Dad (Sal Aunesie) was the starting QB for the University of Colorado, but he died of cancer his Senior year. It's also worth noting that he got the head coach's (Bill McCartney) daughter pregnant out of wedlock. The family, despite all the crazy publicity at the time, took Sal in and loved him like one of their own. They have helped raise TC, and he came to LSU as a preferred walk-on mainly because of Bill McCartney's relationship with Les Miles. Good story.

Pretty interesting story, there was a thread about him a while back. Some people on here got upset because some negative things were said about his mom. In a nutshell his mom who was the daughter of the Colorado head coach got pregnant by the starting quarterback at the time and later died of cancer about a year or so after he was born. Les Miles was a assistant there at the time and has ties to the family. From what I read the Colorado program was getting out of hand at the time.

Les recruited Sal. I don't recall any significant off the field problems during that time frame. Don't recall any NCAA investigations either.

Will this air before or after the obligatory weekly feature on Tebow?

McCartney was listed as a TE last year and moved back to his natural Qb position during fall camp this season #17

Yeah, they loved Aunesie so much they didnt give TC the last name Aunesie.
That is some bullshite right there. I am sure Bill Mcartney really loved him for getting his daughter knocked up.

Coach Bill went on to help start the group Promise Keepers, a christian movement for men. He is still the president of Promise Keepers.

There were other rumors I don't want to say on here because it might offend someone.

What this thread doesn't make clear is that Coach Mac is a much REVERED figure in Colorado Buff football lore.
He is number 1, all else can take a seat behind him.
Sal was the man who spurred the CU rise back to prominence and eventual title run (well after his death)and rallied the team. He too is revered.
As for his daughter, TC's Mom, she had her problems and paid a terrible price for them. The whole family did in fact.
Resist the urge to write derogatory things about a CURRENT LSU player's Mom on a message board.
I know you can do it.
Don't be that guy.

That's why I didn't, I don't care if it's a LSU player or Joe Shmo. I wouldn't air out their dirty laundry but if someone wanted to find out they probably could if they researched it.
