The deep safety was 10 yards off the line in the second half. Ten yards. I’m all for ball control offense and winning ugly. But the running game will be more effective if the safety has to play further from scrimmage. The Tigers ran 14 plays of 72 for a loss. There’s ugly and then there’s ugly.

That is unsustainable. I’m not saying LSU should be airing it out on every play. But when the opposing defense is packing the box and so many plays are going backwards, the offense has to throw deep for two reasons 1) it’ll open up the short game and 2) the deep ball should be open due to the lack of safety help.
