The methodology is stupid, I grant you. but it IS objective. Objective, yet arbitrary, standards don't become subjective by virtue of being stupid. The formula is known before the season starts. You might like it, I know I don't, but there is no room for argument -- what is your rank? Is it X or Y? There is no subjectivity to the fact you received X many votes in the poll. now, the poll itself is subjective, but that's actually not the same thing.

You either are #2 or #3. no debate. It is objective fact. How you became #2 or 3 is subjective, but that's not the criteria.

As for this...
quote:

They shoudl matter little, since they are not won on the field. Nobody can argue that a 1 loss UF team was better than a 1 loss USC team, a 1 loss Texas team, or even an undefeated Utah team. It is ridiculous.

Did you win the title? no. It's not a matter of the subjective truth of "who is better?" That's an endless an unwinnable argument that will bore the living hell out of me. Did you win the title is an objective truth? Go check the trophy case.

Do I hate the BCS system? Yes. do I want it changed? certainly. But to argue that NOT winning the title but believing in your heart of hearts you were better has the same value as winning the trophy is plianly not true.

Titles matter. Pennants fly forever. Crystal footballs go in the display case. No LSU fan brags that we were considered the best team in 2006 at the end of the year. We brag that we won the title in 2007. Hardware. I'll take objective truth over your subective belief. Wanna change the system? I'm with ya. Think they could do a better job? 100% agree. But that isn't the system we have now.

Titles matter more than anything else. Ask 1985 Georgetown basketball.

You can say the whole thing is objecitve but each method that composes the formula is subjective. Like gymnastics, technically the winner is decided objectively, whoever has the best scores wins. The scoring method however is very subjective, same with boxing.

Just as I do not accept that jaun Diaz was a better fighter than Paulie Malignaggi because the crooked judges said so, I do not accept that Florida was better than USC.
