I live in starkville. Got undergrad from lsu and masters here at MSU and stayed here working. Tailgating is not as cool as LSU but is still fun. Stay in town if you can, but if its much cheaper you can stay in columbus or west point and its only a 1/2 hour drive. There is a casino in philadelphia about 1 hour away too if you like that.
Places to eat. Good BBQ-Little Dooeys. Good Burgers -Mugshots, Christys, or Pettys. Good Italian-Old Venice.
If you are going to go out. Club type-Ricks or the State Theatre is where the honeys will be. Chill out-Bin 612.

I called last week for tickets and the game is already sold out. You might be able to grap some tickets from scalpers though.

You will always be able to find a scalped ticket...even for big games like LSU.

Save your money and go to Bama, UGA, or Oxford.

Book hotel in advance. There is nothing close to Starkville to fall back on.

go. try to make as many SEC schools as you can. the people that tell you not to go are more concerned with bar hopping & partying than the game. Typical characteristic of LSU's modern fan base.
It's an easy drive, there aren't any bad seats in the stadium, and could be the only SEC road game the Tigers have a very strong chance of winning.

something else,
this year bulldog bash is the night before the LSU game. This is a REALLY cool event. They shut down the streets in the Cotton District and set up stages. Its sort of like the Carlotta Street festival in Halloween @ LSU. The acts are typically OK, but it is music and drinking beer downtown..a lot of fun

We have a group that goes a few days early to the Golden Moon casino in Philadelphia Miss. It is very nice. We play golf at both of their courses- Dancing rabbit. Less than an hour drive to Starkville.
