I don't necessarily disagree with him but surprise surprise GG authored a negative LSU article.

Guiblow....yeah he's credible.

That article was much ado about nothing...QB play should be much better than last season, and I'm good with that.

For example, Auburn fans are actually starting to think Gene Chizik was a good hire. Saints fans are starting to think they will actually have an inside running game. And LSU fans are starting to think that Jefferson is great, just like they thought Lee could beat the Union army last August. Jefferson may end up being very good. He has showed promise. But remember this. The kid has started all of TWO games, and one of them was against a bad Arkansas team. The other was against a good ACC team, which is not that much.
It doesn't get much realer than that. I completely agree with GG on this.

One of the few times I have agreed with Guilbeau.

I didn't find it really negative...very realistic. I don't agree that JL has much of a chance to supplant JJ as starter by the end of the year. If he does...that would mean this article wasn't negative enough.

And FWIW...the Cubs are gonna win it all...next year.

I also totally agree with him, sorry but we have no reason to think that JJ is the savior of the QB position at this point. We have no evidence except against an over-rated Georgia Tech team. Yes it is good to think positive and hope that he is the example of "greatness" but we need to wait and see...(especially all of the Heisman talk on him already)

I don't disagree. JJ had 1 good game. All of our Qbs are very young. It will be a grind. Whoever they put in at Qb will make Rookie Mistakes. Better than last year.....Yes. On par with Russell or Flynn, not even close.

LSU can win with Jefferson, but, please, he is no JaMarcus Russell. He is no Matt Flynn or Josh Booty either.
I'm not sad that he is no Josh Booty.

Yeah, but you won't convince some people of that. Like Georgia Tech was a steamroller that couldn't be stopped.

To quote the article:
"The bottom line is this. The quarterback position is still very much a question mark at LSU. It is the biggest question mark on the team."
I can't disagree with this--in fact, it seems pretty obvious.
Another quote:
"LSU will win nine or 10 regular season games in 2009 because of the defense and some playmakers on offense, not so much because of the regular quarterback. "
It wouldn't surprise me at all if this proved to be true. And that's not because our QB's suck (they don't), but rather, because of their relative inexperience--at least with Jefferson, and certainly with Shep. As it is, I share GG's belief that we'll win 9 or 10 regular season games this year. Our QB's will gain valuable experience, and in 2010 we'll be loaded with talent and experience at the QB position. We'll be fine, so enjoy a 9-or-10 win season in 2009, and be glad that we can win this many games as our QBs get more comfortable playing at the SEC level.

Doesn't have to be a savior......
Play steady.....don't turn the ball over alot........and get it to the weapons
Sound familiar? See Mauck and Flynn......

GT beat one of the best teams in the SEC last year in Georgia, who was 9-2 going into that game with their only losses coming to 2 undefeated top 3 nationally ranked teams in Alabama and Florida. They also beat up on a Mississippi State team who gave us all we could handle at home.
Were they spectacular...no.
Were they a solid top 15 team who we shut down...yes
Did JJ manage that game perfectly, in a similar fashion to Flynn's management against Miami in that same situation...absolutely
Give credit where credit is due. That doesn't mean he is the savior or that he is guaranteed to be an all-american, but it certainly points to a bright future and anyone saying otherwise is just trying to flame.
