I am curious how far McKnight has fallen on depth chart. I read some reports of him moving to WR or DB along with Punt/Kick Off duties.
Apparently 2 new RB's have emerged and now RB is like one big clusterfrick.
Can I get a confirmation if McKnight has moved or not?

he needs to be a cb from here on out

Who are the main RBs besides Gable and Johnson? I am guessing Marc Tyler and Allen Bradford.
I believe some of the USC fans mentioned on here that he was practicing at CB sometimes, but he wasn't doing that well yet.

In this weeks SI they mentioned 2 freshmen RB's who have looked good so far in practice and scrimmages. Not to mention those 5* that are already at the loaded position.
I also remember reading that thread but didn't pay it much attention. Wondering if now that we are closer to season if I can get a confirmation if it really happened.

No Joe is still right in the RB rotation. He's had a great fall camp so far by all accounts. He's taken some reps split out at WR, but he'll have the same role as last year
He took some looks at CB during summer throwing sessions and was awful
The two running baks I think you're talking about are Curtis McNeal and Mark Tyler. McNeal was probably the best back during the spring and had a great first scrimage, but got injured and was in a sling today

Sort of a hijack here...But if Mcknight would have been at LSU wonder how much people would be calling him the next Payton or Bush?

That's interesting because they haven't really gotten any big prospects at RB over the past two years because of the insane depth in 2006 and 2007.

You see LSU hype for Shepard, it would have been that bad

yeah McNeal was not highly recruited because he;s small and was sort of a late toss into the class in 2008. He's been awesome though. Tyler redshirted as well so he still has 3 years of eligability.
Seems like next year is when Carroll gets back to signing a shitload of backs

They are probably just run of mill 4* players. You know the ones USC offers scholarships so they have someone to practice against.

McNeal and Tyler are the 2 players they discuss in SI.
Carroll is quoted as saying McNeal will play for sure this fall

Nah, everyone they've signed since 2007 is a 3 star or less.
Tyler is a 5-star from 2007 but because it took him a while to get cleared he redshirted. I figured he would be their second best power back this year.

Patrick Hall could play running back, but there's no need
Tyler was great in the carries he got last year and everybody seems to think he needs to ball more

Not me never wanted him and yes im serious ... Played against him in high school twice and yes he was an unbleiveable player, but was also the biggest hot head arraogant person ive ever seen. Ive seen the guy rush stands for fights at basketball games and track meets and saw him fight off cops which never was reported, not to mention his arrogance on the feild talking shite to coaches and fans during the game, I just didnt know how i could ever root for the guy if he went to LSU.
Also heared from a couple good sources that that hand injury last year wasnt from someone slamming his hand in the door!

Is Hall cleared yet?
I figure Tyler won't get a lot of carries this season since this is Stafon's last year to impress the scouts, but I bet he will be the main guy for USC in 2010 and 2011.
For some reason, ESPN calls him a junior, but that's wrong, and their site has had way too many typos recently.

He and STafon are 1-2 and will likely see the most caries. JM more so from the slot. He has not fallen. We did sign a RB for next years class. SC typically gets recruits late. PC has told recruits he only wants them to commit if they are 100% sure and won't take visits to other schools after the commit.
Posted on 8/16/09 at 10:03 am to tduecen
JM should've been a WR/CB coming straight out of hs. 6'1 190lbs and fast, he would've fit in at those positions much better with a shot for the NFL.

Actually he was pretty damn good playing around. KeTo said he would be an All-PAC 10 player at CB.
