Jordan Allen tonight at scrimmage

He had 6-7 tackles in the 15 plays he played tonight with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Kid looked like a monster, just blowing through the line and killing the running back. Franklin Parish wasn't much of a test, we'll get a better look next week against Bastrop.

Can't wait to see him play left tackle for us.

How did the rest of the team look? Mainly the QB situation.

Mainly the QB situation.
Starting TB and starting QB didn't play and it was 20-0 basically at the half. WM ran 0 spread which is supposedly all they've practiced this year.

what kind of quickness and explosion does he show, JJ27 ..particularly off the ball?

i think LT is his future also
based on the migration we've recently had of DLs moving to OL combined with the fact that we are lite on the DL right now on the roster and in this DL class, I can't imagine the staff really taking Allen believing he'll be another OL conversion ..gotta think they want him at DL, at least for starters
the once-great "D-Line U" is getting scary thin at DL ...I cannot recall the last time we had so many true froshs that we will probably have to lean on for depth this year. We're used to getting a 5* DL recruit and forgetting about him for a year or two before he works into the rotation

He could've taken the handoff a few times last night. He blocked several punts last year.

then why not DL if his agility grades out well? if the kid has a sleek frame and is light on his feet and has good hips and some explosion he should get a shot at DL before we go-Will-Blackwell on him IMO
you could tell Blackwell was a little thick and perhaps sluggish ...but Allen appears to be more athletic and has a sleeker build
why LT?
of all of the WM boys through the year who does he compare most with? He doesn't look like those OLs we got from WM ..he looks more like a taller Brian West, no?

I meant sleek as in why bulk him into an OL? It's not like he's a guy destined to have a huge pot belly like Blackwell, is he?

He reminds me the most of Whitworth before his senior year, hence the LT comment. Whitworth was TE his first 3 years at WM before moving to LT. Jordan is the best prospect from WM in a long time imo. I feel more confident in his college career than any other since Whit.

He's 6'6" 270. My best friend is dating his cousin and the first thing out of his mouth last night is, "He needs to put on some weight. That kid is tall and skinny when you see him in person. He could carry atleast 20-30lbs. and not be fat." That would put him at 300lbs. and he wouldn't have a gut at all. The kid is just a freak and a great kid to boot. I don't foresee any off the field troubles at all with him.

that's good to hear
As for Whit, he was 6'7 and too slow to be a TE or DE...OT made sense
Allen is listed as 6'6 but I've heard from some Monroe people he is not near as tall as Whit... so if he is athletic and can keep more of a "running-big-man's" frame then why not DE?

sounds like Tyson Jackson ..would that be a good comparison?

I've heard that comparison a lot. He's a taller/skinnier verson of B Dub imo.
