during a very heated, very drunk discussion with a friend of mine, that LSU would be ranked higher than Bamma at the end of the season. What kinda odds do yall think I have.

BTW this cat thinks JPW is a better QB than anyone who has ever played at LSU.

It will depend on who wins the game between 2 of us. Winner should get into SEC Championship game which could help by giving them extra L.

JPW better QB than Russell yeah too much to drink

I think I made a pretty sound bet... but i also think the Tigers have a damn good chance of beating the gumps this year.

Considering Bama does not have to play either Florida or Georgia, you can lose the bet even if we beat Bama--dumb bet.

I guess you will be pulling for Virginia Tech, while the rest of Tiger Nation will be pulling for the Great Satan!

If Bama's QB gets hurt, they will have a tough time to go 6-6. They literally have ZERO quality backups.

If you want to win your bet, then hope McElroy goes down and then you can sleep well at night

The Tide may go 6-6 with McElroy. There's more wrong with this year's Tide team than just the QB.

The secondary will get exposed this year. Repeatedly. There are far more teams in the conference in 2009 that can throw the ball than there was in 2008.

They've got Arenus as a potential all-american at one CB spot. They have to replace their FS who was drafted. Woodall isn't horrible, but not great at SS and Kareem Jackson at the other CB. Jackson has given up the big play here and there, but he will be better this year as a JR now that he has significant PT under his belt.

McClain is one of the best LBs in the entire country.

Dre Kirkpatrick will probably see some time at CB. He's similar in talent level to Patrick Peterson in case you haven't heard of him.

Sorry, but their secondary isn't as big of a weakness as you try to make it sound.

It won't be their strong suit, but I don't see it being all that 'weak' either.

They have to replace a lot of very good players on the OL. That is what will make or break their season. If they can't run the ball then they are ruined.

I dunno if I buy the whole QB debate, it is not like McElroy is young guy. I mean he is a 4th year Junior correct?

I think him being in the offense that long working with the players and going against that defense all the time help.

JPW did not carry the team last year and McElroy will not this season. The will still try to run the ball and beat you down like that. Then count on defense to force other team into 3 and out each time.

Even with Star they could be an 8/9 win team with that defense and running game. Remember LSU was 8 win without a defense and a marginal QB play.

McElroy is a pretty good QB. But, they don't have anyone behind him worth a damn.

Starr Jackson is a joke and it wouldn't surprise me if he were to transfer after this year. The kid is not an SEC caliber QB nor does he fit Saban's system well. His ball floats like a high school QBs.

AJ Mccarren is 6'4 and about 160 lbs. The guy is a string bean and needs AT LEAST 2 years to get bigger and develop. Horrible is an understatement to how he played in the AAA game.

They are loaded at RB. They will try to run the ball like always, but they have to have a QB that can at least threaten to pass otherwise their Offense will fall apart.

Well I do not know much about AJ. I have seen clips of Star and while I know highlight clips are not the best way to judge a QB he is capable.

I do not think he will be horrible, he could lead them to 8/9 wins like I said. Teams were loading up the box a good bit last year wanting Wilson to beat them. I mea 3 games over 200 yards (215 High) 2 games under 100 yards passing. 9 touchdowns and 7 INT, 160 YPG passing.
I really think Star could perform to that level if he is asked to start for Bama.

You have looked at both team's schedules, right?

Bama has 2 tough SEC games: us and OM, and they get us at home.

We have 4 tough SEC games: FL, Ga, Bama, and OM- and 3 of the 4 games are on the road.

I say that when we play tough compitition we play to our talent level and when we play weaker compitition we tend to play down to their talent level. If we can over come this this year we could very easily wind up 10-2 or even 12-2.

When I look at this conference I do not see the overall team domination from one team as we did had last year in Florida. Florida has some holes to fill this year and Alabama is just a shell of they where last year. Ole Miss was lucky to get out of the Swamp last year with a win and are playing the media off of that one game last year. They have no depth and they have some holes to fill also from a year ago.

I do not believe there is a team other than Florida that has the overall talent level that LSU has. IF, and I mean IF we play to our talent level all year and make it to the Florida game undefeated, we will beat Florida and then IF we beat Florida there is NOBODY and I mean NOBODY left on our schedule that can beat LSU until we play Florida again in Alanta. That will be a different game and there will be more on the line there and we all know what Tebow can do when all is on the line. IF we can win that game somehow I believe that we win the BCS CG for our fourth NC. We will be either 14-0 or 13-1.

You can say that I am dreaming all you want to and maybe I am but, at the same time I know that we can easily go 10-2, 9-3 or even 8-4. So, I will not be shocked if either happens I am just hoping that we play to our talent level with an attitude that if we play all four quarters with the fewest mistakes and play that way the whole year with few injuries we have a chance of achieving whatever our heart desires. So, why not hope for the best because if we do not win at least 10 games this year the majority will be calling for Miles head. I like Les Mile as our head coach and hope he will win another NC then he will be here until he retires.

Speak for yourself. I'd pull for the Taliban over Alabama if the were playing a game of marbles. And it has nothing to do with Saban.
