Jesus could you imagine if he would have stayed another year... Ranaudo, Coleman, and Verdugo as our weekend rotation.

Is that 2 innings with 6 strikeouts vs WV? Very nice, he should get moved up!

He must know how to throw more than just a "fastball" and a changeup now.

Sadly, a fastball and changeup are still good enough for Class A ball. I'm sure he's still developing other pitches. Once you get to Double A and above, then it's essential to have more than those two. But as a reliever, it's not necessary for him to really have more than 3 great pitches.

it's really not necessary for him to have more than a good fastball and a good offspeed pitch, especially since he is a lefty

A 90 mph fastball, even from the left side isn't that great, it works if you have great secondary pitches to work off of. Besides, he has 6 walks in 13 innings. If he got moved up to High A, especially in the California league he might be getting a more reasonable challenge, but lets wait til hes thrown 50 innings in low A before passing judgment.

Was he injured to start the year? Why did he begin in instructional league if he is a 22 year old who was a weekend pitcher in the SEC.

Tom Glavine. you can get by with 2 pitches as a lefty in the majors

And the best command in the game. I'm not trying to rag on Verdugo, he's trying to make it to the MLB and I hope he does. But when he throws 90, with an everyday changeup and is walking nearly a batter ever two innings in low A ball. Thats not exactly screaming major league.
