"The Defensive Backfield saw a slew of injuries and changes. The season started with Jonathan Hefney and Jerod Parrish at safety, while Antonio Gaines and Marsalous Johnson started at cornerback. However, only Hefney retained his spot, as injury and impressive play allowed Freshmen Eric Berry, Brent Vinson and Dennis Rogan to emerge for the unit. Junior College transfer DeAngelo Willingham also saw significant time."

I hhope he'e not an old SEC fossil like Fulmer was. Things have changed dramatically in the SEC,
is Chavis "madd scientist" enough to keep up? I don't know, this is why I pose the question.

Sure, their defense sucked in 2007. It was awesome last year. #1 in total defense and #3 in scoring defense in the SEC. And that's with no help on offense.

2006's defense was pretty mediocre. Or it could be one of the best defenses in the conferences like in 2005.

If you believe in dishonest argument, you can cherrypick any of those seasons to prove whatever you want about Chavis. I think a better way to say it is that his defenses are usually good, but it's not like he didn't drop a turd in 2007 followed up by a great defense in 2008.
