Last question on the page...and I totally agree that it will be 2011 before he's making an impact with the ChiSox

He'll be up by the end of 2010. The White Sox are great at developing talent.

I hope you're joking.

September call ups. He might not play but I think he could be with the team.

The only way he sees the majors before 2011 is if the White Sox are out of contention in the playoff race. Given past history that will not be the case. Its not like J mitch was drafted by the Nationals. They are out of it before the All Star break.
Mitchell needs to work on his strikeouts before he makes it to the show. Look at all the great LSU players who never cracked the bigs. It will take him a while.

With the age and injury history of their top players this is entirely possible. Him getting called up also has nothing to do with the playoff race. When the roster expands in September if he is still tearing it up there is no reason not to give him a cup of coffee and see if he can be an asset down the stretch.

This has nothing to do with Mitchell.

Teams are allowed to expand the roster to 40 come September. Playoff contention or not, all teams bring up some young players during this time. Playing time is more limited if a team is in the playoff hunt. The roster returns back to 25 for the playoffs.
It's not impossible to think he may get a look at the end of next season if he has a decent summer.

Nice link, thanks!
No need to rush. He's making good money to grow into the game. Whenever he gets called up, they will have him ready to make an impact. He ought to have a nice career.

Gordon Beckham, who tied Matt Clark for the NCAA home run title in 2008, is already up and playing for the White Sox. They don't fool around in this organization. If Jared can contribute he will be called up.

yeah he may get called up. First rounders often recieve the call ups so that they can experience the big leagues. If he sticks or not is the real question. I would be willing to bet he gets called up at the end ofnext year. The real question is: where will he start the 2011 season?

I met Jared's aunt yesterday and she said he really loved his time at LSU. She also said he is going to be RICH!

Why would they bring him up at the end of 2010 to sit on the bench and halt his development instead of playing him everyday at AA?

Minor league season is over by September 1.

Did anyone read his contract? Most first rounders have guaranteed call-ups negotiated into the contract. If the contract states it, then no matter what he will get called up. Its how they can make a little more actuall pay. What he got was in signing bonus. He is still making minor league pay. He is too good of an athlete to keep in the minors for 2 yrs. He can be used as a defensive replacement or to run the bases. No offense to any of the LSU greats in the past, but none of them were the kind of athlete this kid is.
