1983 was the only meeting. LSU won 40-14.

That year I think Wash. won their conference.

We on the other hand had a bad year.

I was at that game as a student. It was wild. Washington was highly regarded and we were not. We set a then attendance record of over 80K at a time when the official capapcity of Tiger Stadium was something like 78K. Back then all you needed to get into a game was your ID if you were a student. That section of the stadium was SRO. I will always remember that game and the USC game when they were ranked number 1 and we outplayed them, but still lost.

I remember the coach complaining afterwards. He thought he had a top team but realized they had a soft schedule and couldn't compete with the "LSUs"

That was after LSU lost the January 1983 Orange Bowl to Nebraska (the #1 team in the fall of 1983) by 1 point, but before LSU went 0-6 in the SEC.

That was one of the most disappointing losses in Husky history. We were coming off finishing #7 in the country the previous year, and started 2-0 including a win over #8 Michigan the week before.

Keep in mind most of that team went on the next year to finish 11-1 (#2), and a lot of people say they should have been national champs instead of BYwho.

So that was a huge upset by the Tigers. Just goes to show anything can happen.

Actually we were ranked and coming off an Orange Bowl the previous year. We were fairly highly regarded and had a very disappointing year after that game.

Dalton and James gang were sophomores coming off a great freshman year. Wickersham for Risher proved to be a dropoff.

I was a student at that time. The student section was packed like sardines. All of the stairs were packed with people sitting on the steps. Sadly, that game was the highlight of a terrible season.
