Seeing LSU apparel outside of Louisiana

So earlier today I was in Gilroy, CA at the Gilroy Garlic Festival and I saw an asian kid wearing an LSU shirt and I didnt think he was an LSU fan. I felt like he might have just been wearing it like some people wear Yankees or Red Sox apparel.
Do you guys think most people outside of Louisiana or the South who wear LSU gear are fans or just people who buy it cause it is cool to wear?

My younger cousin from Athens would wear LSU shirts just to piss off his family members that were huge George fans.

I rarely see anyone out here support LSU so it surprises me whenever I do see someone.
I probably shouldnt have said asian kid but I'm more wondering if LSU's image is growing in such a way that it is a cool team's apparel to buy and wear?

Went to a store today in Round Rock, TX, in line with a dude thats's LSU to the T.....shirt.....everything. He gave me a Geaux Tigers! I asked him why he's here (live here or not),....he said for work and that he's a roofer. I was wearing my one of many LSU hats.

I always have on my LSU gear when I go out. Quite a few LSU fans here.

I saw a guy at my workplace with a LSU 2007 NC sweatshirt on and so I yelled "Go Tigers!". He looked at me like WTF..... Apparently he work a job in Louisiana and he got the shirt there because he was cold. I laughed and he couldn't have given a rats arse.

Hey people, sports apparel that doesn't sell well in the stores in various parts of the country usually sell the items dirt cheap. About eight years ago we were in Idaho. The sports store we were in had a clearence rack. You could buy a long sleeved LSU, Alabama or Kentucky shirt for 1.25. Take a look at the stores in BR. You can find good deals on sports apparel from schools that are in the northwest or northeast.

How old was the "kid"? Gilroy's not far from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey. Could be a Louisiana native in the Armed Forces out there for language training.

My son worked at a resale shop while in college and occasionally they would get LSU apparel donated. He would always call me to see if I wanted it.
The other day I was at the mall and a guy in a FLorida t-shirt walked by ~ I tiger baited him and he looked at me like I was crazy. Obviously not a real UF fan.

I wear my LSU caps and t-shirts a lot here in Georgia. Gets me a lot of looks living only 45 minutes from Athens. Not much is said as they've whipped our tails the last couple times we've played them and they know it. I do get satisfaction though that we went to the NC in 2007, leapfrogging them in the polls. They're still ticked about that one. Hoping for a big win on 10/3.

Well, I would NEVER wonder if ANYONE wearin a STANFORD shirt was a Stanford fan because why the Hell else would anyone be caught dead in it? LOL!!!
