Another first Saturday Nighter here. I don't have tickets, but tailgaiting. We can't make it until after 3ish. What do you suggest for parking? Supposedly we're tailgating with my girlfriend's neighbor's family but I'm pretty sure her neighbor will be incoherent to give any kind of direction/instruction.

What advice have you got
Find a spot with lots of music food and beer. Walk towards it. When you are taunted and shouted at smile like you're retarded and keep moving towards the food and beer. Say something like "man that smells good" or "can I give you a couple bucks for some beer, we're out". Keep smiling like you're retarded.

be very careful parking in grass parking lots/spots
the rain will cause alot of people to get stuck, and even if you're not stuck, the people who are screw it up for alot of people

I made a walking tour map of places on campus to visit on gameday.
It was originally made for people who'd be arriving in buses to campus, hence the "bus drop off" marker.
Nonetheless, I hope it helps.

for first timers, take a second to read the official info from the LSU sports website. It'll give you last second details you might need to know.

1) Reconsider travel plans to arrive earlier (will try to do this based on number of comments);
If you leave NO at noon on a bus, it'll take you three hours to get to Baton Rouge, then an hour to find a place to park three miles from campus. Just sayin'.

2) Being thick-skinned, cool not a dick (not a problem; I treat visiting fans same way in gainesville)

3) Get in the stadium earlier than I would think (I've heard this before)
A lot earlier than you think...it will take you 20 or 30 minutes to get in at the gates, so if you want to get inside in time for pregame, then do the math.

4) Have my friends wear some colors (who knows - one could turn out an LSU fan).
Have some wear UF, some neutral and some LSU...then figure out who had the best time.

5) Eat & drink no issue if you're respectful
I would visit the Chimes on the North side of campus for the fried aligator they have on the menue. Plus they have like 100 beers on tap. The place is a truly unique experience and is packed from the time they open until they close on game days. Even the ESPN crew couldn't get a pass to the front of the line.
Like everyone else said, just walk around and stop by tailgates. You do realize that they go out a couple of miles in every direction around campus, so when you arrive on campus late, you'll have beers to drink on your walk to the stadium.

They will show u the right way and give you some beer and food for the walk. Have fun, its an experience unlike any other.

try to be at the parade grounds around 10:00-11:00 (dont forget to set your watch back an hour. CST) ESPN's GameDay will be there and the crowd should be great

if you're visiting Mike's cage you sure aren't going when theres 1298319082 people down there, you're going early when there arent any students in line.
They take him out of his habitat and drive him to a quiet area several hours before game time to get him away from all the noise until game time...so get there early in the day if you want to see him.

Have our van rented to get up to BR pretty early.
We had a guys trip to an LSU game one year and stayed in NO the night before...we tried very hard to get there before noon, but we partied too hard the night before and didn't leave NO until 2:00. I was miserable with the traffic and we almost didn't make it inside before kickoff...leave early.

Just understand this....LSU football games and the tailgating is like no other experience. I know the Swamp can be loud and the Gators are a great team...but that is all you have there in Gainesville that can compare to what you are going to experience. The people that will be on campus, there was close to 190,000 people for the game in 2007, the amount of tailgating, the food, the drinking, the team and Tiger Band coming down Victory Hill, pregame in Death Valley, and Death Valley at night is like nowhere else in the country. The noise factor in Tiger Stadium for this game will be something that you will never see anywhere else. The Student section, and the rest of the stadium cheer throughout the game with the Golden Band from Tigerland...LOUD! Hell, even pay attention when the Tiger Band plays pregame, the National Anthem and the Alma Mater. They are actually sung loud in Tiger Stadium.....whereas in most, even Florida....people just stand there with their hats off. Just have thick skin, when you hear "Tiger Bait" just smile, talk to the tailgaters and you will be fed and offered drinks. If you do this enough from early Saturday Morning until gametime, you will have eaten more food and be shitfaced by the time you get to the stadium. This is no joke...and I hope that when it's over, that you will go back to Gainesville and tell people what a wonderful time you had.
Good Luck
Great Game
No Injuries

Great post. I expect to have a great experience and will tell everyone in Gville about it. I think our fan bases are very similar though I will willing concede the partying/tailgating advantage to LSU. I see you guys show up on our campus and NOBODY travels like you all do. It's awesome. You've got my respect....
