Worst to First Dynasty 2.0 (LSUSoulja08's pick)
Posted on 7/20/09 at 10:42 pm
Posted on 7/20/09 at 10:42 pm
I'd like to start a dynasty using the same guidelines we used in the "Worst-to-First" dynasty. Basically, the lowest-ranked 30 teams are available, but now that I look at it, UCF is ranked #90 with a B- rating, and 3-star prestige. I'd like us to have 2-star teams or lower, and a rating no higher than C-.
Each user will pick his team and be assigned to that team for three seasons, which is generally how long most contracts for those schools' coaches last. At the end of three seasons, you can either "renew" your contract, or you can change to a team with a similar star-rating. Basically, if you take a 1-star team and build them into a 3-star team in three seasons, you can either stick with them for three more years in hopes of building their prestige even more, or you can elect to go to another 3-star or another school with lower prestige.
Rules:
1) Probably the most prevalent complaint among casual gamers is in regard to the scrambling QB. If you're going to drop a fast QB back 20 yards deep and just scramble around waiting for a WR to get open deep downfield, and then throw up a prayer, don't sign up. If anyone is reported doing this, he will be removed from the dynasty, no questions asked. Scrambling is okay, but if you immediately break from the pocket and drop back 20+ yards, that's considered cheesing.
2) Going for it on 4th down. If it's late in the second half, and you're trailing by two scores, I have no problem with you going for it on fourth down. In the first half, the only time it will be acceptable to go for it on 4th down is if you have a 4th & 3 or less yardage to gain for a first down, and you're at your opponent's 35 yard line, or inside the 35. Outside of that range, you must either punt or kick a field goal if you have a kicker capable of making a long one.
You can go for it on fourth down in the third quarter from any area on the field if you are trailing by three scores or more. That's 17 points or more.
You can go for it on 4th down in the 4th quarter at any time only if you are trailing.
3) Onside kicks may only be performed if you are trailing by 17 points or more in the third quarter, and if you are trailing in the 4th quarter by any point total. Onside kicks in the first half will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
4) The chew clock option can be used in the 4th quarter only. Other than that, line up and play.
5) The fast QB formations that Florida has in their playbook can be used, but I still think it's cheesy. It's almost the same tactic employed by those who like to scramble with a fast QB, dropping him back 20 yards and then waiting for someone to get open. If someone is abusing the formation (i.e., running it every play or more than what you deem to be acceptable) bring it to my attention, and we will have a vote on appropriate action. I'm trying to eliminate the cheesy tactics in this dynasty, so if any further exploitations are discovered, bring them to my attention.
6) Splitting the defensive end way outside. One of the cheesiest moves on defense. You can only shift your defensive linemen by doing a line shift where the entire line slides one direction or pinches down.
Position changes allowed:
QB-None. The only exceptions are if you recruit an athlete who has arm power of 75+ and accuracy of 75+.
RB-None. No receivers can line up at RB. If you're thin on depth like I am in my offline dynasty, and you're suffering major setbacks like injuries, then naturally, you have no choice but to put in a WR or FB or whoever the next best player would be.
FB-Running backs can fill in for fullbacks.
WR-CB, FS, SS, or TE
TE-CB, FS, SS, or WR
OL- Centers, guards, and tackles can change to any position on the line. I had to change a guy from tackle to guard because I didn't want to have a walk-on be the starting guard.
DT-C, G, T, and DE
DE-OLB and MLB. In today's age, linebackers make this transition a lot. James Holt, linebacker at Kansas last year, couldn't have been much more than 230, but he was used as a speed rusher on the end. I have no problem with this move. Defensive ends need to meet certain requirements in weight, at least 230 pounds. This will eliminate anyone's desire to put an athlete they recruited in the DE position.
CB-FS, SS, and WR
MLB-OLB
OLB-MLB
Athletes can be used at any position, but if it's QB, they have to have at least 75+ accuracy and 75+ arm power. I haven't checked most of the ratings for athletes that turn out to be good QBs, so if anyone knows, please bring it to my attention and I'll change the requirements. I run mostly option, so I don't really need a passing threat.
TEAMS AVAILABLE:

The 4th down rule is bs. If it's 4th and 1 on the fifty you should be able to go for it

Okay, if it's 4th and 1 at the 50, you can go for it.
If it's 4th & 1 up to the 36, you can go for it. 4th & 2, punt of field goal. 4th & 3 from the 35 or inside.

I had another mental breakdown and told my brother he could have my PS3 for the time being. Now that I've got it back, I'm ready to start another dynasty up.
Glad to be back.

Done.
I'll add you as a friend on PSN in a little while. Right now, I want to see what everyone else is in favor of doing before we decide on how many times a week we advance.

So far we've got:
Me (bdedon)
lsu777 (LSUtigerLC777)
lsu_28 (lsu_28)
TigerFan91 (UrTigerBait
wallowinit (hugme49)
oreeg (PSN????)
SKIPPER (schaeffer504)
I'd like to get at least 8 people to play. For user games, there will be a minimum of 3 games vs users for everyone. If you want more, let me know. Also, if you want to schedule home and home series contests, communicate with each other and let me know.

We're going to do a draft once we get 8.
I'm like you though. I run the shite out of the flexbone.
