Try Bozo's or Casamento's. For Gulf Coast oysters nothing can compare.

Correct. IMO the best months are November through March. In my experience the oysters in Florida are much smaller and not as flavorful as the LA oysters. I do like some Pacific Coast oysters, but only out of season for our native ones.

yeah, my dad has always told me 'months that end in R are the best for oysters'
but even he said these were awesome, they werent too big...but not too small. the locals said since they arent getting much rain over there the salinity has been high, thus salty/delicious raw oysters. believe this restaurant (High Tide) gets their oysters from Apalachicola

The best oysters I have ever had were from Appalachicola as well.

I disagree. They are more flavorful because they are smaller and naturally cleaner. Thats why apalachicola oysters >> LA oysters. Tygerspy is absolutely right.

I disagree. I have lived in Alabama/Georgia for over ten years . I find la. oysters to be larger and more flavorful and salty...

I've eaten at that restaurant before and had the oysters. I was pretty impressed overall with their food, considering I expected more of a tourist trap. It wasnt bad. Good fried pickles, too.

their hush puppies are incredible...also my sister had the gumbo and said it was pretty good (despite having mahi-mahi in it
that was my first time eating apalachicola oysters and i found them a million times better than LA oysters...i also agree with the smaller ones being more flavorful...i dont like giant raw oysters, now fried and chargrilled are different stories

Whoa slow down, that's a pretty strong statement.
You sure they weren't just a thousand times better ?
Most oyster I've ever tried in Fla. were puny little things. So I haven't tried many of them.
But if they were that good now, I promise you they will be better come cooler weather.

In my experience (keep in mind I am Louisiana biased for everything):
Appalatchacola (sp
) are the best i have had, although they are smaller than their La counterparts. La are second, but this is like comparing Trindon Holidays 100 meter on an inside track versus his time on an outside track. There both fricking Good.

1001? lol
yes, LA's are good...maybe i exaggerated a little bit. but the ones from apalachicola were the saltiest i've ever had, maybe i'm not getting them at the right places in LA...i usually eat them when i go to Felix's in Nola, or down at home (Houma) at 1921 seafood.
