I've used a few and now I'm on Fidelity and very satisfied.
Accounts like Scottrade have lower commissions on stock trades, but lack much in tools, tax reporting, and customer service.

I've got accts. with TDAmeritrade, Scottrade, Vanguard DBS, Interactive Brokers, and USAA. All have strengths and weaknesses. Any specific questions about any of the above?

I opened an account with Scottrade a few months ago because of the lower transaction costs, but even still, the transaction costs are quite significant so do your research. I don't know how the features compare, but it seems solid so far.

I've had Ameritrade since 2001. I've never had a problem with it.

Firstrade is the best. 6.95 trades and you get a bunch of free ones if you sign up and deposit like 3,000 in your account.
