SEC championship game

why doesn't the SEC move the championship game around the southeast? why not rotate it around the conference stadiums (leave out ole-piss and vandy bc their stadiums stink)? or have new orleans, birmingham, miami bid on it. atlanta is boring.

atlanta is easy travel from most SEC cities, either by car or plane...plenty of hotel space and a large stadium.

I would like to see the game moved to different cities also, but there are not that many alternatives. Miami is not really close to most SEC cities. Birmingham does not have a decent stadium. The only cities in SEC territory with the stadium and logistics to handle the game are Atlanta, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Memphis, and Nashville. Memphis and Nashville would have weather concerns. I have no idea if the Liberty Bowl stadium is nice enough to handle the SEC championship.

As a fan, of course I'd like to see it rotated; it just makes it marginally more interesting, period. I don't mind an outdoor game in the cold, and I don't even mind sitting in a dump of a stadium to watch a game (especially since I'd be standing most of the time). I would exclude New Orleans from the rotation, however, since an SEC team almost always plays in the Sugar Bowl; I wouldn't want to have a regular situation where a team makes two straight trips to the same city (2005 was an odd situation, of course).
Having said all that, the SEC has to do what's best for itself financially, and the bottom line is that not only is Atlanta the most central city that is viable for the game, but it makes the SEC more money than would any of the other cities.

Atlanta - SEC East is Home Team
New Orleans - SEC West is the Home team.
Just alternate these two sites every year. I'm sure keeping it indoors is a priority. The Big 12 played in Arrowhead one year, and the weather was horrible. I don't think weather should be a variable. Too much BCS money on the line.

Just a friendly little discusion. BTW, the 2013 Super Bowl is in New Orleans. The NFC will be the designated AWAY team. Saints may have to wear white if they make it (I realize THIS is thinking too much).

this isn't an option. The ACC would throw a ton of money at Atlanta the year the SEC would leave losing it forever.

The second game, also in Jacksonville, was Wake Forest vs. Georgia Tech on a rainy day. The problem here is that more people would pay to see Vanderbilt and Mississippi State in the SECCG than WF/GT in the ACCCG. Paid attendance was 62k, but clearly fewer than 40k showed up.
The last two games, one in Jacksonville and one in Tampa, have been disasters. Each game pitted the northernmost school from each division (VPI/BC), providing the worst geographic possibility for the game.
I'm sure things will pick up soon. Boston College isn't going to keep winning that division.
