Tigerland...

I saw this last night on HBO.
I really enjoyed this one. Anyone seen it or have any comments?
I felt that it really captured the aura of the early 70's without being hokey. It was refreshing in that it was a Vietnam movie about guys trying to get out of going rather than an over the top antiwar screed.

I thought it was really good. One of Colins earlier movies, one of his best performances IMO

Very good movie. Colin Farrell's best performance.

Tried to watch it for the first 20 minutes and was bored to death, so I turned it off.

I watched it when it first came out and thought it was a great story. Really captured the fear of what was going on at the time and how different people handle it in different ways.
They wanted to actually film it at Ft. Polk but there were too many ordinances and they decided it would cost too much to make the area safe enough for filming....so they went to Florida instead.

If i am not mistaken i believe it was considered the first film not considered an independent film to be shot completely in digital format

I haven't seen it in years but I think I remember it being kinda garbage. Not horrible or anything but just not really worth a shite either.

That would be the best Colin Farrel performance I've seen as well. He was very good in Tigerland though, probably his second best performance. (Although he was very good in Casandra's Dream even though the movie was not so good).
I actually enjoyed this movie more than I though I would. It's an overlooked Vietnam movie, which is a shame.

"I grew up in Dublin. I love Dublin. If I grew up on a farm...and was retarded...I would love Bruges, but I didn't, so I don't."

I liked Tigerland.
I liked that kid's monologue about the moon.
