Finally saw this two nights ago for the first time. What an awesome documentary. No doubt dePalma took a lot of story from Scarface from events of that time.
Are there any more CC docs or was it just one show?

There is a Cocaine Cowboys 2. Focuses on Griselda Blanca. Not as good as the first but definitely worth watching.

Speaking of, they are making another movie about that story, this time a drama. I assume it'll be like blow

Apparently Mark Whalberg and some other producer were in talks about basing a series off of Cocaine Cowboys and bringing it to HBO. Not sure whatever came of it, but I could imagine it being pretty awesome with HBO's track record with original series.

Wait, the one I saw featured Griselda Blanco prominently and had lots of interview bits from "Rivi" the guy was her main hit man. It also featured the two guys who ran the smuggling operation--Michael Munday and John Roberts who were flying plains in from Columbia into the everglades.
Was this Part II? If so, where can I get my hands on part I?

Did it start with the mall shooting in Miami?

II was mainly about Griselda Blanca and her love affair with the black drug dealer.

Yeah it started with a shooting in a liquor store in a strip mall. they just sprayed the place and killed two or three cuban drug dealers.

If I remember correctly, Part I starts with a shooting in an actual mall. It marked like the beginning of the coke wars or something.
I need to watch it again, good doc.

The second one wasn't as good as the first.
American Drug War is a good one though, and I watched one about Freeway Ricky Ross that was pretty crazy too.

NORE - Cocaine Cowboys (Banned on Myspace)
Rivi was obviously a charismatic guy, but he could have saved the whole "I was the best on U.S. soil" comment. Blew up a guy's house when he wasn't there, botched a drive-by.
The director's commentary and deleted scenes are great.
