The only thing I agreed with is bypassing you turkeys on strength of schedule, which the BCS dropped the following year. Obviously kissing your arse.

In 1-AA last season, #1 ranked James Madison (10-1) stumbles in the 2nd round and is bumped out. Meanwhile, 9-3 Richmond gets hot and is crowned national champ. So what good did winning 10 games do JM? Richmond only won 9 and lost to JM in the regular season. Three teams made it in the playoffs with 8-3 records. Was Richmond the best or just the hot team?

Maybe JMU fattened up on a weak schedule. Maybe Richmond played a tough schedule or had some injuries. The bottom line is when they played each other on the field, Richmond won. Therefore, they are the better team. As the only team standing out of 32, they deserved to be called national champions.

What if Andy Roddick would have beat Roger Federer? Would he not be recognized as the Wimbledon champion because Federer is one of the greatest grass court players of all-time? If people apply the anti-playoff argument to any other sport it makes no sense.

you can play three baseball games in three days. you can play two basketball games in three days.
you can play two football games in two weeks.

this is the big problem. to change the BCS you will have to shorten the regular season. this will come with a lot of new problems. Div. II football can do it, because no one cares, and few are risking pro careers with injuries in these extra games.

this is the real problem, and there is nothing that will fix it. it will be better to just understand this, and leave it alone. any change will just make things worse, because the fundamental nature of football is to have fewer games than baseball or basketball, and have these games be more important.

Actaully they DID play head-to-head and Richmond lost to them straight up.

Actually, this makes my point.
So IF Roddick beats Federer at Wimbledon. Roddick is the Wimbledom champ, but Federer is still the best player. Federer is considered the best for his body of work, not just because he won this Wimbledon.

And it has exactly as much relevance to football as the 2008 "Billy Joe's National Championship" that Southern Miss was awarded by Billy Joe McGee of Hattiesburg, MS.

You do realize our national championships in 2003 and 2007 were awarded by polls, don't you?

And I ask again, who were the national champions in 1991 and 1997?

Easy solution, decrease the season to 10 or 11 games

There is nothing easy about that. Nothing at all.
