5. Drew Brees, QB, Saints: It's too bad he plays in an era with those two top guys (Manning, Brady). He's had an amazing three-year run in New Orleans with amazing numbers. Now he needs to win a ring.
--------------
I think he has become established as one of the top 3 QBs. A ring (or two!) and he will be debated if THE best. Posting this also cuz there is a Vote for who you think the best player is on the link page. How bout some Breesus turnout?

had to give Brees a lil love because he has been a consistent performer in the NFL for a long period of time. And how come we only have 1 player on the list...no love for Colston or Bush.

40. Jahri Evans, G, Saints: Most don't pay enough attention to this athletic, strong guard. He should be in Pro Bowls. Scouts rave about him.

nice to see drew brees getting some love. i think Ed Reed should be higher than 12. 7-10 would be where id put him.

For QBs list, I would say Brees is behind only Manning, Brady and after this season Big Ben.

I agree, my personal top five is Brady, Manning, Big Ben (for his postseason success), Brees and Mcnabb. I also think very highly of Ryan, he just needs to prove it on the field with a couple more quality seasons and a playoff win. Flame if you want, Ryan is the real frickin' deal imho.

Laugh all you want, the dude has two rings. You can look crappy all year, as long as you make it to the Superbowl and lead a convincing drive to win it all...

sweet, those super bowls have nothing to do with the best defense in the NFL i guess. He's still not near one of the best QB's in the league. He's on the 2nd tier

they won their 1st super bowl inspite of him, he played terrible

I'm far from a Saints' Homer and I'll say Big Ben can't hold Brees' jock. It's not even close. Shitty D for Brees vs. Best D in the NFL.

Sure, every fan would take that from their QB, doesn't mean he is a better player.

Don't get me wrong 'cause I like Big Ben too but I can't fricking stand it when a player with less ability is thought more highly of over a player with obviously greater ability because of their team's success. If Rothlisberger is the Saints QB in '08 do they make it to the playoffs much less win the superbowl? Hell no. How many rings would he have if he were under center for the Steelers or Patriots or Giants?

But you can make the same argument for just about every quarterback, hell, just about any player in the NFL. It's a team sport involving Coaches, front offices, players, etc. Do you think Drew would have the same success with Tomlin? How about Brady with Dungee (sp?). It's all relative. Teams, personnel, schemes...everything is built around the QB. The dude has two rings, which means he has navigated the NFL's regular season with success, the playoffs and the Superbowl...twice. He managed the games and put his team in a position to win. He has my respect. I'll take 2 rings and playoff wins over a 5,000 yard passing season and a 8-8 record any day. Just imho fwiw.

And no, Big Ben isn't nearly as talented as Brees...he just deserves his props for his accomplishments. If Drew has another season anywhere close to last season...and gets a ring he would go to #1 in my book. Brady, Manning, Drew would = 1a, 2a, and 3a. Can't really say who would be top dog. NFL is all about winning, nothing else.

The Steelers would not have won the superbowl with:

Alex Smith
Tavarius Jackson
Brett Favre
Tony Romo
Donovan McNabb
Jason Campbell
Dante Cullpepper
Kyle Orton
Alex Smith
Jake Delhome
Jeff Garcia
Marc Bulger
Trent Edwards
Chad Pennington
Kerry Collins
Matt Shaub
David Garrard
Carson Palmer
Derek Anderson
Joe Flacco
Jay Cutler
Phillip Rivers
Jamarcus Russel
Matt Cassel

What has Big Ben hasn't done much in the post season. His team has, but he really hasn't.

So in your little world, Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino, I guess. After all Dilfer has a ring.

Can't really laugh at the guy. Nobody has a better win % then he does since he has started. Guy got hit by a car and had appendicitis and still played football like a madman. I'm all about Brees Manning and Brady being up there but Big Ben will be there sooner than later.

The Steelers have a better winning percentage. Last time I checked he hasn't been asked to block, tackle, catch or cover. The Steelers are an excellent team and Ben Rothlisberger is a very good game manager but to put him in the category of elite QB is naive and ignorant. You substitute him with Manning, Brady, Brees, or Warner and the Steelers still have a superbowl contender. If he's under center in Arizona the Cardinals don't go to the playoffs much less the superbowl last year.
