So after probable departures (After an NC I wouldn't be surprised if everyone who can leave does), what does the starting lineup look like for next year? I'm assuming at least 2-3 new players will be starters seeing as Maineri doesn't care about starting freshman, and they will especially help our rotation since we lose one of the main cogs on a short pitching staff.

Who do you think becomes the third starter? Ross again? Or does Colvin move in there? I would think that Ott stays as a closer.

If Ott can be molded into a starter, we may have on of the sickest 1-2-3 rotations in the country:

1. Ranaudo
2. Ott
3. ZVR

Dishon most likely will start next year. He is extremely fast and can hit the ball. He was redshirted this year which is why he didn't make the trip.

People have said Ochinko will go because he won't have a position. We are supposedly getting a great JUCO First basemen that could start immediately and that would leave Ochinko out. I want that Jap to stay to add depth, but whatever is best for him I guess.

That good JUCO guy will most likely DH b/c Dean will most likely start first. This is the only way PM could talk Dean into coming back is by guaranteeing him a position. Ochinko is leaving because he wants to play catcher.

mainieri said in the PC last night that he didnt expect lemahieu, mitchell, or ochinko back...obviously 2/3 were already a given.

So if you think Ott becomes a starter, who moves to closer? Jones? Bertuccini?

I don't think you will see Jones next year. Bertuccini is more of a mid relief get out of trouble situational pitcher. If Bradshaw is not starting then he would be my pick for closing. But I think it will be Anthony R. , Ross, and Bradshaw as the w/e starters with Ott still closing.

Some guys are saying the JUCO kid will be the DH. I don't think Jones is in exactly the same situation because he could be a high draft pick in BOTH sports. He probably could have a longer career in baseball, though, and could make a difference.

He could also stay in the minors for 10 years like many do. He will make way more money in the NFL.
