Let the debate begin. Is this the best LSU team ever?

I say yes. With a 55 win season and a share of the regular season SEC championship and the winners of the SEC tourney, they have to be considered one of, if not the best. Only losing 2 games in a row once in a season is impressive also.

I don't knoow 1997 was pretty spectacular and 2000 was pretty smooth at turning double plays.

This 2009 team certainly gets my vote the day after winning a National Championship.

However these type debates are best done a few years removed when emotions aren't so high.

Most balanced, yes, probably not the best. It's hard to beat the gorilla ball team.

It began last night. Tons of threads on the subject and this team is either #1 or #2 behind 97 for most people on here.

Overall, yes. Consider the balance of pitching, hitting for average, power and defense. That's not something every prior championship team had.

Does the fact I've had a serious man-crush on this whole team all year make me gay?

97 team didnt have 2 stud starters go 26-5 with an ERA below 3 and a stud closer. 97 team played with juiced bats. 97's team fielding pct was .966 compared to .974 for 09's team. 97's team avg run differential was 4.2 compared to 3.6 for the 09's team. 09 team had 40 more stolen bases than 97's team

In 1997, 50.8% of the MLB draft was made up of college players. In 2009, 66.3% were made up of college players.

2009 team, I believe, is better because it played against better competition, and played much more well rounded than 97's team
