Well I went private b/c I was able to make 10k more than any public job that I was offered at the time. Also, I have a family so I'm not looking to travel much which, if you are in audit, you are normally traveling a good bit.

FWIW the majority of my recently graduated friends that are auditors in either Houston, the ATL, BTR or NOLa, and I don't think any of them has had to be gone for longer than a day. OTOH, one friend works for PWC in Charlotte doing IA, and she might as well not have an apartment.
